Hi Guys:

not the handy type but just bought a no name variable speed (1000 rpm to 3000 rpm) polisher (7")...

Can someone please list the 7-8 (or what ever the number of steps are) for me to use this thing and like what speeds to use...I have swirl marks and I would just like to use one off the shelf product (say like NXT) to do the job...just wanna make sure I don't burn the paint but want a deep wet look...also should I use foam pads or cloth or what...? thanks for all your help...I kind of see this thread as a "polishing for dummies"...

...do you mean a rotary vs orbital? what is the difference?
Rotaries spin, Random Orbitals "jiggle".

Rotaries do more work, faster. That also means they can do more harm, faster when used incorrectly.

ROs are more gentle and build up less heat so they are less likely to do any damage. They are also less capable when you need to do major renovation.
