Ready For Winter!

Hi everyone



I bought a cargo van that the previous owner had lettered. The lettering was removed before I bought it, but you can still see where the lettering was. How can I remove what remains. I don't know if this is the difference in the paint (this was lettered in 1997) or if this is something left over from the adhesive.

First clean the area(s) with alcohol or nylon spotter if you can get a hold of it at your body shop supplier. If the marks still remain it is just the paint is newer or never been waxed. Truthfully 1997 is a long while and is probably the latter. My car had lettering on the side doors for 6 months and left a color mismatch. Just use some lights polish and wax the entire area then the vehicle. Should all blend in now.
 
Well, I have to admit, I'm no where NEAR as good at this as you guys, not even close! I did a full polish and seal on my R today and am happy with the results, but there are still a few areas where there are small scratches that I feel should have come off, but I'll keep trying different things. Anyway, here was the process and the pics.

Blackfire clay with ONR as lube
M105 on PC7464 w/Orange Kompressor Pad
M205 on PC w/LC White Kompressor Pad
BFWD on PC w/Red Kompressor Pad
Midnight sun, hand applied
Wheels got a coat of ZAIO, I didn't get a chance to pull them off though, short on time!

Sorry, I'm a horrible picture taker too, that's my next goal, learn to use this fancy damned camera!!!

Thanks for looking! Again, I'm not even close to the level most people here are on, but I'm working on it!!

Sorry for no before pics, again, I was on a tight time frame today, but I did take care of quite a few spider webbing and swirls and small scratches, there were just a few that I wish I could have gotten, but couldn't.
 
The last picture turned out really bad, sorry about that. It looks like the hood is in bad shape, but it's just the photo. The wind is blowing 100 mph here today, so there is a bit of dust on it, but that's just from being out in the wind for 2 minutes! :cursing:
 
Looks great Zack as you get ready for winter i just want it to drop below 85 degree's .
Oh by the way it looks like you did something to the ride height HaHa .:thumbup::thumbup:And hopefully i will be able to share some pictures of the new S60R sometime this weekend .
 
Thanks Adam and yes, the ride did change a bit and I love it!!!

I'm headed to the Naughty Volvo tour next week, here at Superior, should be fun. I've sat in one down there a while back and I'm kind of torn. I like the interior and the exterior is okay, but so far, I haven't seen a TRUE R. The Volvo R was such a special car within their lineup. They put so much effort and made it so unique it barely shared any parts with any other car in the Volvo lineup. I'm a Volvo 4 Life guy, so I won't be switching brands anytime soon, I will just kind of miss the REAL R, you know what I mean?

I agree with Adam. The car looks great. If there are still areas that you were not able to correct, try using the Hydrotech Pads. The cayan pad has great cut to it and finishes way better then a orange pad, and the tangerine has more cut then a white pad, and once again finishes much better.
I know how bad the winters are in KC, so looks like you are set.:Dancing Dot:

Thanks Barry! You are right, I need more pads to experiment with, I just don't have enough options right now. I also think I may use a bit too much product at times and I don't get it to heat up and break down like I need to.

I still have one more Volvo to get ready for winter, so I might try to get some more pads prior to doing the red one!

You might also want to use Collinite 845IW to top off your cars for winter. IMO, there is no better winter protection than any of the Collinite products. I like 845 because it is easy to use, has insane durability, and is very inexpensive.
 
That blue is dripping wet! Seriously, it looks awesome, one of the best blues I've seen.

Are those cars FWD or AWD?
 
Luster, I've thought about that actually, but a 300 hp AWD car is just TOO much fun in the snow!

Thanks poppa, the blue is pretty unique, not a lot of colors out there that are too similar to it! And, yes, it's AWD, fun car to drive!
