Rapid Fired Volvo

My name is Mike
Rapid Fired Volvo C70

The weather has made it tough to try out the new Blackfire line. In the middle of our extreme drought, we had a stretch of 2 weeks of nearly daily rains. A coworker volunteered his 2011 Volvo C70 last Saturday. We carefully watched the forecast and there was rain in the morning but only a 10% chance of rain in the afternoon. We decided to give it a try. However, as often happens when you believe the weather forecasts, we lost - it was raining when he had to leave. Didn't finish the exterior detail (wheels and such) but the paint still turned out really nice. This was not a full correction attempt (even I don't do those for free ;) ) and, with only about 5 hours to complete, it really was only a (super) premium wash and wax (minus the wheels - the interior was just a vac and wipe down).

Products used:

DP RW&G
BF SRC Compound (hood only)
BF Total Polish N Seal
BF Wet Diamond Crystal Seal

Quick notes:

This Volvo's paint is really, really hard. BF SRC Compound on an Optimum MF Polish pad didn't remove the relatively shallow RIDs but really brightened up the gloss. (I will be coating this car later this Spring/Summer and then will be more aggressive with pads and time.) BF SRC compound has a very nice smell and long working time. And, as noted, left a really good finish for a compound.

BF TPnS also was great to work with and left the finish with what I expect now when I use a BF product: super slick and glossy with more color.

BF WDCS went on beautifully and quick. It amped up the gloss and reflections even more. I really like this product.

Obviously only garage pics.

Nice write up, and once again, Congrats on the Blackfire win!
Car / Color looks great....

Here's a pic of my 2007 C70....Hard Paint is right....but it looks good & Volvo has some beautiful metallic to that really pops when done right.

excellent write up - wasn't it nice to apply both the TPnS and the CS? They were very predictable and smooth when applying for me....

Thanks everyone.

I really liked this combo. For the time invested, it would be hard to beat it. The owner was there while I was working and was shocked at the difference in the 50/50 areas. He had kept it in good shape since the new car detail we did when he got it (Klasse twins), but the richness and depth of BF was something special.

Nice write up. Very informative. Thanks. I also really like BFCS. Have applied it on top of other LSPs (just experimenting), including well cured carnauba and it gave a great look and slickness.

very nice. it's always nice for the owner to see the difference with your 50/50. he had to be happy with that finish !
