Random orbital + SwirlX = holograms?

Note that while "true holograms" are a rotary-induced phenomenon, that's just a hair-splitting matter of semantics- they're marring, i.e., "scratches", just a specific type. While *some* holograms are heat related, and those can be a PIA to correct, most always they're just very light, shallow scratches.

In this case, I woulda called the marring in question "micromarring", but eh... who cares what it is as long as it gets resolved :nixweiss

BlueBrett- Once you mentioned "terry" I knew what was going on :D Glad you found the MF solution to that :xyxthumbs

With the RO you're using, I'd just give a little consideration to how well it'll break down any diminishing-abrasive product. Other than that I don't see any problem unless/until you run into situations where you need more oomph, and hey, you already *know* what it can do, huh?

I know I'm looking at probably 6-7 hours for an 80% correction at most. Megs UC isn't a diminishing abrasive product, it is micro-abrasive. I don't know why I couldn't figure out that it was the Terry cloth that was scratching it, but at least I dot have to worry about it anymore. BTW, you are the most helpful person on this forum, I swear. :)

That should still attain "best car in the parking lot" level.

Megs UC isn't a diminishing abrasive product, it is micro-abrasive.

And thus oughta work OK with your machine *unless* you need to apply enough pressure that you overload it. For deep scratches I'd just go at 'em by hand first, with pretty firm pressure.

Yeah, people seldom suspect that "nice soft terry cloth" will [mess] up paint the way it usually does.

It's nice to be appreciated, but...eh, you're just asking about stuff I can help with and I enjoy getting not-Autopian-overkill approaches to work out. I actually *like* that you're just aiming for that 80 level, I think it's nice and sensible.

Yea thats not really a buffer just a high powered vibrator/wax spreader

You dont have a buffer

And your hand can do it too but prob faster and better

Im just saying dont expect a tool not made for the job be able to do the job of removing holograms effectively if it all

Here is my reply to you. Its a fun little experiment that shows it can in fact remove some defects.

Before and after pics dont look much diffrent, the only thing the after pic makes it look likes it brighter and more vibrant tell you see the blue tape is also about 4shades brighter.

And 3000grit sanding marks you can remove by hand

You can remove almost any defect by hand but is it as effective as using a machine? No.

He is using a test hood and the whole purpose of his test is to show that it can remove defects. What does it matter what the original condition of the paint is if his goal was to sand with 3000 grit and remove those scratches.
