Rain-X on Plastic Mirror Surface?

We're Here

Rain-X's website offers no useful advice on the subject but I'm wondering if anyone here has used Rain-X on the lens of an outside mirror? Typically these are plastic and both the bottle and the website suggest there "could" be a problem. Anyone used this stuff in that application? Was it successful?

I've used Rain-X on my outside rearview mirrors for several years with good results. It's especially helpful during the winter months for reducing ice build-up.

Just make sure you completely buff/wash off the residue after applying.
