Quikshine before and after pics

That's awesome but wouldn't Qding a dirty car just put more scratches into it. Did you dust it or rinse it down prior to using the QD?

Scott, how does that compare to the Meguiars QD? Not the one in the maroon bottle, i remember using one in the tan bottle, i think it was Reflections, don't remember, but i was impressed by it and debating between a bottle of that, or the Quikshine. Thanks

I was out of Meguiars #34 and has a car that I knew I was going to have to clay the next day. I asked the guy working if he had tried Quikshine and he told me he had and that was why they carried it. Good enough for me to at least buy some and give it a try. Haven't used anything else since.

Is that the answer you are looking for?

The before pic was taken about 10 seconds before I went after the trunk lid with Quikshine. No washing, no dusting.

It depends on the lubricity of the QD. Quikshine tends to stay very 'wet', unlike some other QDs that dry quickly after you spray them on the paint. You also need to use a bit more product on dirty surfaces than you would when QDing after washing.

Again, I wouldn't recommend using any QD on a filthy car, like the grime you get after rain, but on dusty, spotted surfaces or light to moderate sap, Quikshine seems to have no problem cleaning and shining the area without leaving any scratches. In addition, it seems to fill in minor spider webbing and drying streaks.

One question if i may: Do you follow the directions David B gives in his book on how to quick detail, or do you have your own condensed version?

I just spray Quikshine on a fender/door panel/half the trunk/third of the hood/etc, lightly spritzing if the paint is alreay clean, and using proportunately more for soiled surfaces. I wipe with a MF towel, then turn over the towel to the dry side and wipe again.

:nixweiss Nothing special, I just have been able to find great products. Stumbling in on them like Quikshine or finding out about them on Autopia and the Wax Test like I did with S100/P21S. The rest is just perfecting my technique, when if you have cleaned (washed/washed and wax/detailed/interior only/overspray removal, etc) 7800 cars in about 9 years, you have a lot of time to get better.

I QD in exactly the same way. You know, I'm not sure if I recall hearing about anyone other than DavidB doing a QD session the way he describes in the eBook.... :nixweiss

Ask dboat. I detailed his 1989 Mustang GT (the one listed for sale on the home page) and his wife's Viterra.

There you go again using my name in vain... LOL...

all kidding aside, Scott is right on...

But I would like to see how Griots Speed Shine would have done too.. unfortunately, we didnt have enough time to do a real good head to head comparison..

I have to say Scott does some pretty incredible work and I feel just that much smaller having to admit to it..

You da man Scott!!!

Dana-Speed Shine seems to be pretty good, but when we compared the two, it was on paint that was already in real good shape and in the shade, so I personally can't say how well Speed Shine can remove moderate amounts of crud without needing to wash. Have you tried it on paint like on that M3? I don't know if you can use Speed Shine in the direct sun. I was impressed with the slickness of Speed Shine.

In any event, Quikshine makes upselling claying much easier...the clay makes the paint glass smooth and QS makes it ultra slick. Instead of asking people "do you want fries with that", I can demonstrate what detail clay can do using QS and then say "do you want your paint clayed before waxing?" Hasn't failed yet!

Does that ricer store still have Quikshine?

I don't know if they have received a new shipment. You can call them at 817 640-4406. It is at Six Flags Mall next to Suncoast and across from Burger Place.
