Quick Review: Finish Kare FK1000P Hi-Temp Paste Wax Review

I didn't seem to have a problem removing the fk1000 and it was a little on the humid side when I did the car. Per Ron's instructions, I applied a thin coat by hand with a foam applicator and then took my DA and spread it thin all over - let it sit for 30 minutes. Wiped it off but wasn't particular about it and re-applied a second coat using the same method. Waited another 30 minutes and this time wiped completely off by hand. I know some have had issues but it work just fine for me. Finished great - no complaints in fact it was part of a test I'm doing and so far, I prefer the fk1000 but it's still early on. Did the whole procedure inside of my garage but again, it was rather warm and humid that day - low 80s in south FL.

How long did this end up lasting for you? I found FK1000P to be extremely long lasting!

I am interested in the answer also on longevity of the wax. About a month ago I put 2 coats of this wax on and a week later I waxed the door jams and actually decided to put a 3rd coat on the whole car. I had some trouble getting the first coat off, the second was a little easier. The 3rd coat that I did the week later the car was cool and I had to warm the garage up to get it in the high 60's. I never let it haze over 100% and it came off with ease. Nothing but rain the last couple weeks and the beading action is better than any of the standard wax I have used. Sheds great. I am really interested in the length of protection and hope to make it at least 4 months as it gets cold here and makes it hard to put more protection on.

Dean.

I find that Fk1000 lasts for at least 6 months on my black Audi here in NH. At least 6 mo. I also use FK425 after every wash so that might be helping the impression.

I once was a Blitz (summer) and Zaino (winter) fan, But now seem to just stay with FK.

Hello jester7677,

Welcome to Autopia Forums!
I do like the FK1000P paste sealant. However, i think this product has a slight learning curve, especially if you are used to OTC products that lets you apply a thick layer and still fine (such as Gold Class, NXT etc).

Dont ask how I figure out this...

Todd, when you buffed this wax off does it just buff off or does it kinda smear off? I used this on my car today and I have a feeling I didn't do it right

Not when I did this car, but I have subsequently. There are times, due to environmental conditions or over application when FK requires a "second" buffing. As noted, a light wipe down with FK425 does wonders!

Oh wow gotta try this!

Can't wait to use it as a sealant...especially since I live in Fl

I swear sealants just burn off after one of Florida's summer months. lmao

I got approximately 4 to 5 months out of it through the Northern Minnesota salty winter. Even at 5 months I still had some sheeting but think it was mostly just the clear coat. I have a can and not sure I will use it again this winter or just keep it sealed with BFCS over the winter. That first coat that I put on was a bear to get off. It reminded me of waxing my dads cars back in the late 70's with Turtle Wax paste in the green can. You have to kind of knock some off with the towel then go back over it with a clean side of the towel, it was too hard to remove it in one pass. I smeared it on a red wax pad on my GG 6" DA machine and thought I put it on thin but it was a pain removing the first coat after I let it completely haze. Didn't even seem slick to me either like I have gotten out of other paste waxes. Maybe I didn't do it right.

Yeah, I've not had an issue. I use it very sparingly when I apply it by hand. Also, Fk425 is the absolute best quick detail spray. It's anti static, gloss and beading is terrific!

The only Zaino I cannot do without is Z10. Apply and keep the windows up for the weekend, and the interior will smell like a new leather portfolio. :D

I was very surprised about the FK 1000p being hard to remove. That wasn't my experience at all. I've done three cars with it and in each case it buffed off easily. I have applied 1000p both by hand and orbital.

I think the combination of 1000 and FK 2685 pink paste wax is an excellent combination. After three coats of 1000p, I added three of 2685 to my ride to give the finish the wetness and depth that 1000p doesn't give. The 2685 should also protect the 1000p and I'll add another coat of 2685 at two month intervals. As with the 1000p, the 2685 is quite easy to apply.

I figure each can of 2685 should be good for 40-50 cars. I got three cans for $17.99 so I figure I'm good for a long, long time.

I'm also a HUGE fan of FK425!
