Quick Question - I hope

I just purchased the PC Sonus DAC polisher kit. I have a black 4 Runner and a red Dodge Ram. My plan of attack is as follows (for both vehicles - please let me know what you think) - wash and clay entire vehicle. Use orange pad with Meguiars DACP #83. Follow up with Green pad and Meg. Speed Glaze #80. Then use the Blue pad with Sonus Paintwork Cleanser. After those steps I am going to apply NXT. Does that sound good or is it overkill?

What condition are the two vehicles in? #83 with the orange pad is quite aggressive. If you're not dealing with major defects, I might go with the green pad/#83 or maybe skip #83 all together and just do #80/green pad. Other than that, you should do great.

I would say they are in pretty good condition. I guess to be safe I should just go with the green pad and #80. If that doesn't work then I can get more aggressive.

I agree, especially since you are working with dark colors. Do #80, SPC, NXT and it should look great. One day, you may want to think about investing in some Souveran. It is unbelievable on those two colors. :up

If I use the #80 with the green pad followed by the Sonus with Blue pad and NXT on the black pad, what speeds do I set the PC on? Thanks

Here is link to the Meguiar's site and their recommended pads/speeds with the PC on their various products. Remember these are their recommendations and you may find that tweaking around may bring you better results in certain situations. It is, however, a good starting point.

FYI the pads they mention are Megs pads, and this is how they are rated:

The 8006 is their polishing pad

The 9006 is their finishing pad

Also here is an excerpt from member Scottwax on using #80: "Make sure you work #80 until it looks nearly clear, usually two moderate speed passes and one real slow pass will do it."
