Quick Opti-Seal review (conclusion=GREAT!)

A couple months back I ordered some CCS pads from AG and decided to throw in a bottle of OS since a lot of people were talking about it. For those with silver cars, you know how difficult it is to get that wet look. Up to date out of the products I've tried (KAIO+KSG, P21S, soft99 wax, KAIO+KSG+P21S, JW AJ) JW AJ has given me the most amount of depth. People were saying how OS makes things deeper and just some NICE looking paint. So added it to my cart. Before a car meet, gave it a good washing, some AJT on top of 3 or 4 layers of AJ done a month before hand, and 2 or 3 applications of OS 24 hr apart. After initial application it did seem like the paint had some more depth, but nothing significant. The next day I noticed the paint had WAY more depth after some curing time. Applied my layer and checked back again the next day. By the time of the meet I was totally sold on this product. It's deeper than I thought I could possilby get this color. Anyway, enough rambling, here's a pic some guy at the meet took, I'll my pics when I get home.

nice job there! :wow:

When you post your pics if you would tell the differnce in dust accumalation and dirt sticks to it as compared to Werkstatt AJT and Opti-Seal.

Good luck at the meet

Car is bright has good clarity and wet.

Beautiful M5!

Please keep us posted on the durability & looks over the next few months.

In my experience with OS, the initial application looks great, but the durability and aesthetics drop off quick after a few washes, unless you’re using a booster product after each wash.

I found similar results with Zaino ZCS on a Granite Green (light silver/green metallic) and the durability is excellent. It's been three months since I applied one coat of the ZCS as my LSP(with no booster products) and water is still beading and running off the car like mad.

I have OS on silver and agree with the depth. The silver car is garaged so durability is not a big issue.

I also have OS on a Charcoal Grey daily driver that is outside 24/7 and after 3 months it is holding up extremely well. The appearance is great and it readily beads water. I purposely put only one coat on the roof and it is still holding up great. I also use it on grained black plastic trim and it stands up well there. Considering appearance, durability and ease of use I like the product.

I think there is less dust accumulation with OS than AJT. However, the best dust reducer for me is still FK 425.

I don't see how you can give an accurate review with tho other waxes under it.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. I compared OS as a product and to other products I've previously used.

Thanks for all the comments.

I agree about OS, pretty much my go to sealant now. Plus, I have had it since March and it has held up (looks, slickness, beading) very well, even with the abnormally heavy rain we've had (24" from May 1st through the first week of July). Very wet look, excellent depth for a sealant. :)

Scott,

Do you recommend putting another sealant like JW AJT prior to OS? My car is silver and I'm wondering if I should just put OS on it right after claying and polishing. Or should I go through the extra step of JW AJT prior to the OS.

Thanks!

What topper should you use if topping OS once a month?(OCW, AW, AJT?) I have 01 Beetle silver.

My OS should be here in 3 days. That'll be my base but not sure what monthly topper should use, if any. I don't know if it'll need a topper, but like to fiddle. Can't see not touching the car for 6 months at a stretch.

Based on your prior recommendations, I ordered the product. I concur with your assessment. I have that grey Yaris in the picture and the look is exactly what I was trying to achieve. I put it on top of all of what I have done in experimentation and I am very satisfied. Given so few sprays needed, this bottle should last the life span of the car.

Rather than using another LSP under the OS I'd recommend putting on a glaze for a really wet look and then topping with OS.

That's kind what I would be expecting from OS. I havent purchased any yet because I remember reading that the good Dr is making strides toward improving the current formulation of OCW. Do you know how far along that is?

I normally use OS as a stand alone sealant. It does work fine over cured AJT and carnaubas if you want to use something underneath it.
