Quick detailer suggestions for bird bombs, bugs, etc

I have been using ONR QD strength for a long time now for my bird bomb carry kit, and for removing fresh bug splatter in the evenings between washes. I was just wanting to see if there is anything else out there that is better for my uses, since I am unfamiliar with whats out there. The one thing I really dislike about the ONR QD is that if it dries on, you can get some visible streaking especially during the day. If the vehicle is a little dirty, I definately don't want to go wiping outside of the area I QD'd.

I did read that Optimum Opti Clean dries clear, but I am kind of leary about using multi surface product. Is this stuff actually better than ONR QD?

I know that there are different types of QDs out there, some intended for boosting LSP protection, others for light dust, and others with cleaning abilities. Basically all I want is something that will safely clean of bugs and bird bombs without scratching and won't degrade the LSP, I could care less about adding gloss or protection with this step. Could you all give me some suggestions of QDs having the characteristics I am looking for? I am interested in hearing which ones to use with sealants and which one to use with traditional waxes

I like ONR QD or a little stronger or FK146. I actually put the sprayers on stream and try to blast the bugs off before doing anything else. Both are probably the best cleaning QDs out.

Using ONR is the best bet for removing bird bombs as it contains surfactants that will lift the acid and enable it to be rinsed away.

Avoid using a quick detailer (QD) spray or a sealant to flush residue, as they usually contain Carnauba or beeswax, which will seal in the acid and not allow it to dissipate. Take your time and be careful with its removal, these acids should be removed as quickly as possible. If the affected paintwork is not neutralized any remaining acid residue will be reactivated by moisture and heat.

Do you find FK146 to have the same cleaning ability and is safe to use on dirty surfaces like ONR?

Eh, ONR doesn't work its miraculous magic for me anyhow, at least not like it does for others, but still...I wouldn't go so far as to say that FK146 cleans as well. I mean...they way I see it, ONR is a "car washing product" whereas I just don't consider *any* QD to be quite in that category (no matter what the ad-copy says ;) ), not the way those "waterless washes" are.

But still, IME FK146 cleans better than most other QDs and it does do the suspend/encapsulate/whatever with plenty of lubricity, so it's pretty safe as such things go.

But if something's really "dirty" then I either leave it alone or do a regular wash. That's one more reason why I like LSPs that are basically impervious to bird-bombs.

Heh heh, not all the qualifiers and scare-quotes in the above! IMO any time you're dealing with bird-bombs and/or touching paint without doing a regular wash, all bets are off.

I use DP WW or OID. I like that OID has some water beading properties to it, noticed it when QD'ing some test spots after a dawn/IPA bath
