Quick Detailer Question

CharlesW

The Rainmaker
It has been suggested that I may tend to wax more often than the ideal. I do use Dura Gloss Aqua Wax after almost every wash. I haven't noticed a build up that affects the appearance, but it has been suggested that this could happen. Could be since it doesn't have any cleaners in it.

Since I have a pretty good stock of Quick Detailers, I thought I might try using some of them.

Now to the point of my question.
What would be the expected life of a QD on a clean, just washed surface?
Hours, days, weeks, till the first rain or wash?
FWIW, I usually wash the vehicles at least once a week, but since my guideline is whenever they need it, it has been as many as 3 times in one day. (Maybe 4 :))

I'm referring to QDs, not products with any wax in them.
Specifically:
Meg's Final Inspection
Meg's Final Detail
Meg's UQD
Meg's Last Touch
Four Star UGE
DP 4 in 1 QD mix
ONR QD mix
Some others I can't remember right now

Well the line between a quick detailer and spray wax is a little blurry considering some spray waxes are more comparable to quick detailers than true spray waxes.

So your question as to longevity is hard to answer but I would say on average a quick detailer is meant to hold up for days or up to a week and that depends on climate and how well the car was detailed prior to using it.

I would imagine a QD may last until it gets wet. This is an uneducated guess, but I think from what I've read and seen firsthand, QD's don;t last too long.

Spray waxes and sealants are a bit different I think. I've used AW, and think it lasts a couple of weeks or more based on my subjective opinions.

i second that statement as well.

Mothers Showtime Instant Detailer is now in my tool bag to stay ! mostly as my clay lube but can be a stand alone use as well when needed, smells like cinnamon and shines like a charm !

the eagle one spray wax as you dry i have been using seems to barely make the 2 week timeframe so its good as a quick fix, and probably would last longer following a good buff and polish rather than just after a wash IMO.

durability of sprays only depends on the condition of the paint prior to application

Although I tend to believe in what Troy has to say yet the common sense approach that Jared Pointer related is probably truer than one wants to believe. Spray sealants are a different matter, though.

Troy couldn't have said it any better. I only depend on QDs right after washes to aid in drying and for quick touch ups. DGAW is something I use as a wax refresher to prolong whatever LSP I have on my vehicle. UQD seems to be somewhat similar to AW though in beading properties and what not.

Charles a few years ago I decided to use nothing but AW on my show car.
Since it was in a garage all the time other than when it was at a show the AW was all the protection that I needed.
I would do 2 shows some weekends and I detailed it before judging at every show.

I used a mix of 2/3 FC&S and 1/3 AW. I called Duragloss and ask about AW buildup
Jerry said he did not think I would have a problem but he said if I noticed any muting to just use the uncut FC&S and that would level it out.

Using uncut AW every week may build up but if it did the FC&S should take care of it.
I never had a problem with my mix.

Applying AW once per week should be all you need as long as you didn't miss a week I don't think a LSP would be needed..
Bill and Jerry are really helpful I have talked to them several times if you have any question about their products give them a call.
