Quick Detailer = Dust Magnet

Has DoDo not taken off in the US yet?

I don't read that much about it here and have not one client ask for it.

I think most people just don't really know about it. I've seen some stunning results on here from some people, but their website is kind of...out there.

If you have any appliances in the garage that connect to a three prong outlet, the chassis of the appliance should be grounded via the third pin. Discharge should be near instantaneous.

Wow, that really did get out of hand. I dont feel that Dodo handled this correctly, i have seen it there and on another forum talking bad about other companies and how upfront they are with their customers, mainly talking about carnauba content and the secret oils of CG Ezyme...there was a lot of hype about ezyme at first, and dodo was right there to call BS on the trade secret oils. I am turned off..what makes his comments unfounded? He tried a product and didnt like it and reported about it...sounds like the whole idea behind the forums, but maybe thats just me..im not trying to start a debate, just stating my opinion

I think the guys attitude on that post was shiite, but we dont know the history he has with that guy Rich. Regardless, he should remain professional and keep his mouth shut.

Like Zaino, Chemical Guys, Dura-Gloss, 3M , Menzerna, Optimum, Lake, Etc. If you make a product that works, you dont need to push it on the forums. It only leads to trouble.

I'd like to try the discharge theory, I just dont know how to hook the car up to an external ground. Your car had it my garage overnight. I wiped it down with FK1 425 in the AM pre Z5 application. I attributed it to the dry, cold, static-filled winter air.

Any part of the car's body/chassis (underside of hood?) to any part of any metal bodied appliance or tool with the 3 prong plug (third prong is ground) and it should be set. It should take no more than a few seconds to discharge any charge.

well then maybe you need to use 425 on 1/2 of the tv screen

and see what it looks like in a few months....it proved it to me!

I thought this 425 was made for vehicles? Arent we referencing vehicles here? I simply purchase QD's for a lack of streaking and added slickness. Any claims for Anti Static, arent even relevant.......(for me)

Jim, I didnt mean to "Bite" your theory.....I apologize.

Im just not sure testing on a TV screen validates its claims....maybe it does. Like I said, I just dont buy into it. Maybe your on to something !

Not to start an argument Patrick, but I'm with Jim. I use it on my tvs and and PC monitors and it makes a very noticeable difference. Although it doesn't repel dust (nor does it claim to), it definitely lessens the amount that accumulates on my black car from sitting in the garage for 5 days at a time. I have tested it multiple times and get the same results. Regardless of the anti-static capabilities, I think it's a great QD on it's own. Very slick and looks great!

I completely buy the FK1 anti-static claim.

Laptops and plasmas in the house are one method of proof.

Look at anti-istatic Pledge in the supermarket. For $3.00 you can buy 12oz of anti-static protection for wood furniture.

I don't think 425 removes or eliminates static, but I do believe it has a property that reduces cling.

I have used 2 anti-static claiming QD's in recent months on just waxed cars, that were then garaged overnight by the owners. In both instances the owners later asked me what I used on the cars as they had (subjectively) seen less dust accumulate on the car while garaged. Neither owner is into detailing or knew anything about the product I used.

My daily cars are not garaged, and I have tried to test a-s claims outdoors, but never yet seen any noticeable difference. This year I will test it on my garage queen and see what happens with dust settling on that car... Until now I have chosen QD's for my cars based on gloss and slickness alone, but it does appear to me, that in some situations the a-s properties can have an effect.

Im wondering if the "anti static prop's" are a water based silicone? (Which is fine and dandy).

So what might be the difference in properties between "dust deterrent", and "Anti static" ?

This is a statement from the QD im currently testing :"Anti-static. Will not attract dust"
