questions about blackfire wet diamond

I don't mean any offense - but , personally, I've just never seen any benefit to adding a wax over BFWD. I've tried a few and it just seemed to cut down on the slickness. Back in my Megs 21 days, I topped my personal car with Megs 26 - the day after applying M21, I got the waxy halograms and spent some time with a good QD wiping down the car. My experience with BFWD -week or so later apply a second coat after a wash, you'll be amazed how easy it is this time.

I agree with JuneBug. I dont see the point in topping a sealant with a wax, never did. It will reduce slickness and attract more dust. How can a wax even properly bond to a sealant?

I also apply BF pretty thick. I've done super thin coats and heavy coats, both work fine. BF is just so easy, I dont think it really matters how thick you apply it as long as you are letting it cure properly.

I usually double stack with Nuba mostly just to burn through my stash. I never use Nuba by itself due to it's short term durability & will probably never buy more again.

I think Dave is on to something, I have some really nice, and pricey nubas and I never use them anymore since I found BFWD. Maybe the only way is to "burn" through them. But, I wonder if the wife will think I totally flipped if I wax my car with Souveran every Thursday night! Seriously, I wish I had the money back from those waxes.

Heh heh, sounds like you did some accumulating of your own :chuckle:

I do still think Souveran is something special though...can't get quite the same look on my Jag with anything else I've tried and my wife felt the same way back when I used it on her Audi (no more of that, life's too short).

None taken at all, I appreciate any advice you can give. I only have the trial tub of the dodo so no skin off my back if I stick with just the BFWD next time!

My Benz is jet Black so I just figured it would give that little extra bit of "wetness" but it seems like I gave myself more of a headache. thanks again for all the responses.

Hey, it's all part of the fun of detailing. I have a good friend and fellow detailer - Brandon1, we're always trying new stuff and rarely (it seems) do we agree 100% on everything. It really is how you see the results. Brandon is definitely better at working the finicky products. I guess I'm too old, fat and set in my ways to get the best results, but there are advantages to keeping it simple too. Here's a little tip that sounds so simple - I wonder why the hell didn't it occur to me sooner, if you want to try some combo's of products, try doing like half a hood or top. This is assuming the prep is right and uniform. If there are any sections that really "wow" you - make notes, it's much easier to do sections and you actually see the comparison side by side. Yeah, I use to do the whole car when I made changes - DOH!!

I tried this when I was looking at Adam's Detail Spray and FK425 (half hood, alternate on doors, etc). I really could not tell much visual difference but could tell a difference in slickness.

So which one is slicker?

That must be amazing because BFWD is incredible. This was my first time using BFWD and I did an M205 polish then used the BF Polish before finisihing with Wet Diamond. Only one coat, and I'll do a second after the first wash this weekend but I am completely satisfied with the results. The color (deep blue metallic) really stands out now, and the wetness is the best I've gotten. Previously using M21, M26 and NXT in different combinations produced very good results but BFWD is "clearly" better.

Welcome to the BFWD club!

And Bunky - tried Majestic's Showroom Shine - I compared that with FK425 and couldn't tell the differance.

Safe to say I'm in the club too. Mine came last night and I got up early this morning to put a coat on. I must say it is VERY easy to work with. We were are 75% humidity this morning and it went on and came off crazy easy! And you just can't argue with these results:

I also applied it to my wheels as MS3's have a brake dust issue. We'll see how that turns out...

any thoughts on putting BFWD on top of KSG?

I'd stick with all-KSG if only so you can add more later, which might not work so well if you mix-and-match. Just guessing though...

It's always a gamble when you mix-and-match across brands but that's part of it. I really don't understand how you would put a sealant on top of a wax. Always thought that sealant needed to bond to the top coat and that wax may or may not adhere to the sealant. Sealant on top of wax is like trying to put peanut butter on top of a jelly coated slice of bread. what a mess ;)

not really ... most products are compatible and few here use a entire line for each detailing effort

KSG is a sealant and BFWD is a sealant
