Question To BIG Car Owners

Those aluminum stools sure are handy. I do recall seeing the sheepskin on a pole thing in a catalog somewhere I don't think it was Griots, maybe the California Car Cover catalog

Oh. I thought this was a thread about big car OWNERS. :D

Seriously, at more than twice the weight of the rating on the aluminum stool, I cannot use that neat stool. I'm 6'3", but my large stomach prevents me from easily reaching even the top of my Grand Marquis unless I press my body tightly against the car. Ow, I hate to do that, because I'm so afraid I'm going to wreck my paint. So I put a terry towel between me and the car. One side benefit is I'm buffing the windows/paint as I take care of the roof. ;) Heh, I wonder if anyone makes/sells terry aprons? Hmm, I might get my Mom to make one for me.

Now I could easily reach the entire roof of both my old 1987 and 1988 Grand Marqs. Those cars were slighter lower (15" wheels vs. 16" on the '04) and flatter than the new car, which has an aero (curved) roof. The difference, though small, is astounding.

I got that same bench chaotik got from Costco. Man I love it, really makes detailing the truck easier. It's very light so moving it around is a piece of cake and folds up so it takes up relatively little space when not in use.

I have both a Boar's Bair Brush and a chenille pad on poles to reach distances. Got them both from TOL. The BHB covers more area faster than the chenille pad but the pad will fit under my roof rack.

Just remember to never, ever, ever scrub with a BHB, just pass the bristle tips gently along the surface. You also need to use big buckets with the BHB because it won't fit in a lot of standard size buckets.

Looks like TOL doesn't carry the chenille pad-on-a-pole anymore but Target has a similar unit.

PC.

I use a 4' aluminum ladder for larger vehicles. I'm only about 5' 6" so I need all the height advantage I can get. I do have to stand on the very top of the ladder to get the roof on Excursions and H2sl; good thing skating gives me excellent balance!

I got that same bench from Lowes and I love it.I paid $30 plus tav and worth every penny.I sit on it when doing the lower part of my vehicles and slide along.Very sturdy but you must lock the legs open.
