Question regarding timeframe between polishing and applying lsp for protection???

I thought I was going to receive all of my detailing products before this weekend to start my first true detail. I have all of the polishes but do not have any of my lsp's. Would it be detremental to the car's paint to polish it this weekend and then drive it a few days before I am able to apply the lsp's? I obvioulsy would clean it again before I apply the lsp's, but I just want to make sure that the paint will be okay in a polished, but not protected state during the few days in between the steps.

The only other thing I can think to do would be to go out and buy an OTC product to use as a temporary lsp until I get the lsp's I ordered. If I do this are there any recommendations for what I should get? And if I were to do this, do I need to remove the temporary lsp before I apply the one that I ordered by using a polish or another method?

Sorry for the ignorant questions, but like I said this is my first forray into detailing.

Thanks
