Hey everyone, its been about three years since I have entered the detailing scene and there was always something I had a bit of trouble with. When reading up reviews or anything I always see people referencing how good the shine of the wax is, but in my eyes the wax seems to make no difference in look.
I have gone from Meguiars gold class to Klasse Aio to Poorboy's Natty Paste Wax and finally to Pinnacle Souveran. Sure after applying the wax the car looks good, but it seems it looks just as good if the car was just washed and polished.
I do agree that polishing makes a pretty big difference, but it seems (to me atleast) that if one was to take a car and wash and polish it and only wax half of it, it would look the same
I have asked organic chemistry teachers, people who went to autobody and paint school and even a chemical engineer and the general consensus is that on modern paint the wax is mainly for protecting rather than look.
I will agree that waxing also takes off contaminants which will add to the shine.
I have searched for before/after waxing but all that I ever found were cars before they were washed, to after they were waxed
So please if anyone has an opinion, or even pictures that would help me, I will be grateful
My paste was ran out so I was going to head to the store to get a sealant sometime today (I was thinking DP, Wolfgang or Autoglym- opinions welcomed aswell)
Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for your replies
