Question on M105/205

Awesome thanks for the help. So youre saying one pad wouldn't be enough to polish the whole car??

Are there any other mild polishes you recommend for ease of use, etc, over the m205?? I just went with it because I didn't research too much on polishes and seen it was a popular quality product.

Correct. After each panel (and that's if things go really fast and easy, without needing a zillion passes) you'll need to stop and at least clean the pad out and dry it if you clean it with water (as opposed to say, blowing it clean with an air compressor). If you do those zillion passes you might need to do it more often than that. OK, some people will stretch it a bit, but still, I'd want at least four pads.

(NOTE: You can clean the pad by scrubbing it with a towel and some QD, but after a while you simply have to stop and clean it better than that.)

If you have it already I'd just use it. But yeah, I often reach for 1Z High Gloss instead. The 1Z finishes out about as well as M205 on my paints and is a whole lot more user-friendly IMO. I've been really impressed with UNO the two times I tried it, but I haven't tried *finishing* with it yet.

But don't blow off the M205 before you try it, it's still really good stuff even if I kinda prefer something else.

Are you planning to strip off the M205 oils or just LSP right over them? I've done it both ways and IMO (yeah, this is more of my Autopian Heresy :o ) stripping isn't *always* mandatory. But when you do want to remove those oils, it can be a big job; IPA doesn't always do it for me.

I polished out my winter rims with M205 prior to applying Opti-Coat. To get rid of the oils I used Eastwood PRE. PRE got things squeaky clean, but it isn't the sort of thing I'd want to use on a regular basis as it contains nasty carcinogens. I figured it was okay prior to a one time application of Opti-Coat, however. My 2 cents...Cheers.
