Been lurking around trying to learn whatever I can. What to you folks think about Griot's products... polishes, wax, Random Orbital?

Don't really know too much about them except for their ad in Car and Driver. You might want to do a search on Google to find some reviews. Or you can pick up some goodies ant DetailCity or Poorboy's World. Both have some nice stuff.:bigups

Griots is an OK company but what I have seen of there pricing is its fairly high for what you are getting...there are plenty of other suppliers, like the site sponsors here....that have equal or better product lines as well as killer service.

OUCH!!

In my experience, Groit's line-up consists of private labled products. They work just as well as thier un-Groit's badged counterparts which are lower priced. The DA also looks to be a rebadged version. On an overall combined scale of one to ten I'd rate the polishes and waxes around a 7.

I just placed an order with them, mostly interior stuff, based on good recommendations from forum threads from several sources which stated their interior cleaning and leather conditioning products are dyno-mite. I paid more attention to interior reviews, but have read some good reviews about their exterior stuff as well.

I don't think that anyone here is saying that there products are not good, you may have missed the point...this site has sponsors that pay to have their product lines advertised here...I am more than sure they have a great line...as I stated looking at the pricing I think its sort of hype in some cases...kind of like the paste wax that sells for 2K

O.K. I've used Griot's products and will give you as honest of an opinion as I can. They like many products on the market can give you a very nice end result. You'll have to work harder to get to that place than if you were to use say PoorBoys, DG's, or DP products. That said and particularly with respect to their wax I find it significantly more difficult to use than just about any wax save it be some of Collinite's. It's just not easy to get off. I haven't used their new buffer but I've read bad press on it when compared to the relabeled PC they used to sell. I don't think it is the end all that they believed it would be and would almost bet they wished they still sold their previous product. They have a no questions asked warranty and I've got to believe this product came into existence as a cost issue. I like their shampoo and their wheel wax is decent also. Polishes and pads line is just too limited for me. All in all I haven't found any of their products to be something that I can't find a better product for less money. Though this is a minor issue for some the way a product smells matters to me. Most of their products carry a very strong chemical smell, Meguiar's also falls into this category. The vendors we have here have at least the equivalent and usually better product with a more attractive price. Griot's customer service is excellent but you will certainly see that level of customer service with our vendors particularly Detail City. :rockon Isn't this right Troy?

It is important to support the sponsors, but it is also important to maintain an open forum where all products are welcome to be discussed.

That said, it is unlikely that you would ever need to look anywhere other than the sponsors for car care products at a fair price and with good customer service.

That certainly doesn't mean that we don't/shouldn't look at other vendors and product lines and post honest opinions.

I totally agree that we should be able to talk about any care care product no matter if the sponsor carries them or not....but on your first post it sort of looks suspect...ya think??

I'm not sure that was Charles post you were reading. I think it was Troy and if I read it right he was joking around.

I was referring to the guy that started the thread and the first post statement..
It doesn't to me, but I tend to be a little more tolerant.

Now the post about "Jorgen's Bucket of Shine" did sound a little like a shill. :dunno:

Didn't realize I was going to hurt folks feelings or cause such a ruckas! As I stated, I'm new to the site and serious detailing. You folks are much more knowledgable than I. Just asking for honest feedback. I happen to already have a Griot's polisher and chemicals.... haven't had any problems with the machine but am not impressed by the chemicals or the prices. Don't mind spending $$ as long as the product is worth it.

So take me out to the back '40 and shoot me!!!! Until this spring I didn't even know that the vendor's here existed. Would I support them? ABSOLUTELY! As soon as I figure out what I'm doing. :wall

Just saw the 'Jorgen's' thread.... OK, I'll start over....
Hi! :howdy I'm Rick from Central Ct. Just joined the site to learn how to take better care of my M3 (yea and even the Wife's Miata... though the Explorer is a lost cause). Nothing more, nothing less. I work for a Health Insurance company --- yes you can stone me --- and the car is a hobby not a business.

FWIW (since I'm new here too, but a few of you knew me)

Ris is no shill. I believe he got the site from me.
