Question for business owners - time

Hi everyone, I have a question for the Car Detailing owner/operators.



I've been doing car detailing as a part time job, I've had a few customers rang up and sounded really surprise when I told them it takes 4-5 hours for a complete detail. And that they can only let me work on their cars for 2 hours..... this is partly because I only details cars after 5pm



the thing is, they are happy to pay the same price as the full detail, and I feel like if I am cheating on them if I skip a step or two.



Have anyone here had similar problems?
 
True detailing clients will not be happy for very long when you skip a few steps. The process of detailing means just that; taking care of each and every detail. When you think about it, detailing is based on taking cleaning of a vehicle up to another level. And that takes time, usually hours and hours. Detailing is not like most car wash businesses where the primary focus is get them in and get them out. And most people in the car wash business will not admit that they have become masters at confusing the public with their hurry up and service the customer attitude. You can thank them for inventing things like the express detail.



It is a fact; it takes at least 4 to 5 hours to complete a full detailing of an average size car. Let's face it; any reasonable client will realize that it takes time to do the job right in order to get good results. And when you are in the detailing business, that is usually a selling point. When you rush your work, you are not doing anyone any good.



Maybe you could do some of this work on the weekends when you have more time. That way you can concentrate on getting the job done right without feeling like you are cheating yourself or the client. And for those clients who insist that they can only be without their car for 2 hours; send them down to the local car wash. They will probably be better served with that suggestion.
 
How about breaking the details up over two nights? How about a detailing package that takes two hours that you could charge accordingly for?
