Question about Foam Guns...

My plan was to go to the hardware store and start looking for spray bottles. He ordered my foam cannon for me, and if there was an option to buy a bigger bottle we would have done that, but there wasn't.



The siphon is just a plastic tube. As long as you get the diameter the same, then just trim it to length. There is a small "mesh cap" at the bottom of the current siphon tube, so I'd just pop that onto the longer one. All of this stuff should be available at the hardware store. If I had some lying around my garage i'd use that, but I dont. Again, you could use any size bottle as long as the neck and thread pitch are the same. It looks like a pretty generic spray bottle thread pitch
 
just got back from lunch and mr. UPS left me a little package :chuckle: . gilmour foam gun.:shocked could not wait. put some turtle wax wash in, set at 12 oz./gal (max) and :soscared: :soscared: FOAM. lots of FOAM!!!! yea, its not "shaving cream" foam that will cling for an hour. but for easy "plug and play" use i'm impressed for $60. :grinno: gotta go :bolt i have a new toy to play with.

Hehe congrats! You're in for a lot of fun. One thing I should make clear about the foam cannon vs foam gun comparison. I have by no means stopped using my foam gun at all. The foam cannon is still more work to get set up (power washer attachments etc).



If im working on a car and I have absolutly no shade, I'll use the foam gun. This allows me to do 1 panel at a time. If I use the foam cannon, and spray it on, I usually can't mitt the entire car before the foam starts to get "baked" onto the paint. I would still say 75% of the tiem I use the foam cannon, the other I use the foam gun.



Both still have their purpose.
 
Jay, I just bought a spray bottle at Target. Then I cut the pick up tube off of an old dead electric pressure washer I had lying around.

Yeah, it's been talked about a bit. There's several thread on it on the UK boards. There's also a few youtube videos of it being used.



It's a good solution for people that have Karchers and don't want to have to replace their guns to use a foam cannon, but it doesn't produce as good of foam.
 
i have a 3000 psi 2.8gpm honda PW... im hoping to get ahold of the autobrite foam lance and give it a shot... similar product to the "foam cannon" mentioned... produced in the UK... i saw the polished bliss guys used it and i wanted to give it a shot... definitely cant hurt haha... im very excited to try this solution...
 
Chaos, if your pressure gun has a female end on it, you don't need to order the autobrite lance. The one in the link in my previous post will work, and the foam gun is exactly the same as the one used by autobrite. The only difference is that autobrite afixes an attachment that will allow it to be used with Karcher style twist-lock type pressure guns.
 
I would like to ask some "yes or no" type questions as things are getting confusing!



1. This question concerns the Gilmore and/or Foam Cannon (without pressure washer!!). Can you use either of these as a hookup to a garden hose with roughly the same results?

This would help buyers considering a purchase now with updating to a pressure washer down the road so to speak, why buy both if one will do it all eventually?



2. Are both these units guaranteed for life or what? I don't know about you but I am really tired of buying things that are supposedly great/simple, but high priced to find out I have a 30/90/360 day guarantee that either sucks because of it's longevity or manufactures conditions! If the company only trusts it (product) for 30 days or so, why should you even consider it at all! Food for thought.

1. No. The gilmour attaches to a garden hose. The cannon attaches to a pressure washer.



2. I don't know about the gilmour, but the foam cannon has no warranty that I'm aware of, and most likely doesn't need one. It doesn't really have much in the way of moving parts. I can't really see how one would break (without misuse) or wear out.
