QD Bonding Issues Question

Wasatch

Just did VM/CMW combo last weekend. Yesterday I QD with Last Touch. Was planning to put some Paste Glanz on Sat. Will I have any bonding issues with another QD with Last Touch before I put on the Paste Glanz? If so, should I just use some Spray & Wipe instead?

My take:

Carnauba waxes will have solvents to keep the wax easily spreadable. Thus, any gloss enhancement agents in the QD should not affect the wax (not to mention that waxes don't really bond, just cure). To be on the safe side, you could use the S&W.

I like a little QD (FD, Sonus, or QS) before waxing because it makes application and removal seem easier due to increased slickness. Not sure if durability is harmed because I don't really have the patience to find out.

Sealants are a different story--I wouldn't lay down UPP or Z after your Last Touch given the bonding issues.

Hey John,

I completely agree with Dan's feedback. I strictly use LT as a QD for my carnauba LSP's - whether it's to wipe down and renew or as a *medium* between applying another layer of wax. I have never encountered any problems when used this way and do not foresee you having any issues either (I am assuming you meant "Paste Glaz" as opposed to "Paste Glanz".

Sealant-wise, I only use LT after all the layering is done. In between layers, I use the corresponding QD (Z-16 for zaino, WG IDS for WG sealant). I definitely think that LT would interfere with bonding...it just seems much *thicker* than other QD's.

I hope this helps,

MCA

If there are a fews days between using the FT, there should be not problem. Also I am assuming that you will wash the vehicle prior to topping with wax. This in itself will elimination any QD residual.
