QD better than FK425?

Dan- Yeah, I do consider FF "lifeless", just never thought that about the FK :nixweiss

Thanks for confirming that the UQW is OK on stop of various things. Heh heh, I'm so confident that I'll like it that I'm intentionally avoiding it until I use up a few more gallons of my current after-wash QDs! I just know it's gonna be great on the '93 Audi.

Certainly! I can pull up the thread but as I recall the test FK 425 and UWWP were equal in gloss. Feel was equal, safety is of course in uwwp favor..

Could you elaborate on the "safety" bit?

Duragloss fast and clean is a better detail spray.

How so in your view?

Cee Dog- OK, thanks. That's what I figured, but I wanted to drag a nice clear answer out of you :chuckle:

Since I'm using a QD instead of a spray wax for the same reason, it's good food for thought.

Heh heh, if I'm not careful I'll end up complicating this stuff by replacing my current QDs (with which I'm quite satisfied) with a two-step involving the UWWP + UQW!

:):):) fwiw, uwwp does contain a very small of the same polycharger protection found in UPGP. It is very little though :)

Cee Dog- OK, and I gather that the stuff I leaves behind is OK with regard to any LSP I might apply over top of it, right?

Heh heh, there are just *so* many products I'm eager to try, but I simply *must* use up my in-stock stuff first :o

Accumulator, yes with regards to any waxes or traditional sealants it will not cause any troubles whatsoever.

I hear that! Good idea!

I will :D

I really do think you have a lot of great stuff available :xyxthumbs

Thank you!

And I would have to agree :)

The items I offer aren't there by chance, because of margins, or because of level of popularity. They are the items that I know work, have tested, and are also ones I respect, appreciate, am proud of, and/or just fell in love with long before I had any dog in the fight.

Hey, another Q about the Ultima WWP- I've noticed that with some rinseless washes subsequent cleanup are tougher than usual. Ketch has said it's because of the stuff they leave behind. Any such problems with the Ultima WWP?

Example: if I (post-conventional wash) QD with FK425 I can merely rinse the car off with DI water after it's dirty, blow it dry, and it comes out *great*, almost like after a "real wash". BUT...if I wash something with my ONR v2.0 I can't do that; I have to *really* work at it to clean things up the next time, just doesn't rinse clean for some reason. It's such a pronounced diff that I've pretty much quit rinseless washing my wheels (between regular washes) because the next regular cleanup is so much harder.

I've never seen that with UWWP however I must say I have never washed a car by only rinsing it.

In short I don't believe so but haven't tested side by side if dirt sticks to it worse than it would a sealant.

What lsp are we attempting to compare its dirt retention to? If your lsp is wax I feel pretty confident UWWP is going to retain less dirt than the wax did if anything. If sealant I would bet the cost of a bottle its equal.

If lsp was an actual coating or CarPro Reload, which offer much less dirt retention than other lsp, then the UWWP may provide a little more dust retention than they have on their own.

That I have tested and it is short lived and minor but definitely not as dirt resistant as those products.

So who's on second?

Prima Slick is a very good QD. Maybe the best. Others I like very much are FK 425, OID, and PB's Spray and Gloss. They are all what I consider "QDs" - not spray waxes.

PB S & G is very good and has an intense green ape smell. I love that smell and it just is so easy to use in the direct sun, etc... Its streak and haze proof. Its thinner than OID, so it seems better to actually remove some dust, and not just use a gloss enhancer.

I'm anxious to try Sonax Brilliant Finish, and I have Dodo's Red Mist Tropical on my doorstep in a box with a lot of foam peanuts - but the later is more of a spray sealant.

A new QD will be coming out in a bit that is extra special.

OID is very nice indeed! I love the Dodo red mist as well. Only problem is I always go back to the fact that I'll probably never buy any of them again when I run out because the price compared to uwwp it's pointless.

CEE DOG-The LSP in question is FK1000P. "Topped" with FK425, it's simply amazing how stuff just rinses off.

You know I'm generally all about fanatical washing, but when the Tahoe was covered with pollen and dirt and had been rained on (I figured it was gonna need some genuine effort to clean up), I tried DI-rinsing/AirWand drying and was utterly astounded by how well it turned out; even an Autopian would've been nuts to say it wasn't OK (well...at least for the dog-hauling SUV).

Guess I'll just put the Ultima on my wishlist and eventually we'll see what I think.
