Put a pond in the backyard

Sorry Chris...........

I was just trying to be funny, and guess I took it too far.

I have always valued our friendship and all the knowledge and help you've given me over the years.

And just for the record, I tried to do a pond years ago and failed miserably. What I got was a big mud puddle. So good job.

Dropped the fish in yesterday (the 4 big ones are SSR1, 2, 2.5, and 3) from the office along with their buddies that were in there with them .... the tank started to get a little small so they have a nice new home now.

Picked up some more rock from my uncles house and finished it all up short of burying the cord to go to the pool filter power.

Looks awesome man, nice work!!

I love it! I wish I had something like that in my yard.

What about bugs and mesquitoes? Is that a problem?

There are a lot of bugs that fly around it once the sun starts to go down but the ones that land in it is food for the Goldfish and the one Koi I just put in today

Mosquito larva will be eaten when I get some guppies from my grandfathers indoor tanks. They can swim around and eat them.

Looks great, I'm trying to talk my wife into letting me do a small pond like that when I redo our deck.

Looks nice. How does it work in the winter? I guess you move the fish indoors?

Nope they can stay right where they are it's about 2.5 feet deep so it will not freeze down there and I will put a bubbler in at winter that will keep an open spot so the gases can escape if the top happens to freeze over.

Goldfish and Koi are cold water fish and can handle temps of water below 40 degrees. You stop feeding them when the water hits 40 so they can go into hibernation.

I would have expected it to freeze mostly since it is in the NY area - even at 2.5 ft.
