Purchasing Rotary & Accessories

I plan on purchasing a rotary today. I like the Metabo due to its light weight, is this the best rotary for the beginer? I also like the makita, but it looks pretty heavy. I want the least holgram-inducive rotary. I will be using Menzerna polises and the LLC pads. Can someone list the best products please!?

holograms come from the user:chuckle:

you can't go wrong with either of those rotarys

there are a few threads where people have had problems with the Metabo overheating and shuting off @ low speeds

I have never had a single problem wirh my Makita in the 15+ years I have had it

Another plus on Makita, it is really user friendly. I first had the loop handle on it then I tried the side handle and I liked that much better. A guy that use to post a lot here recently sold his Metabo, but kept a Hitachi rotary. I'd get the Makita, with AG's 15% off (TURKEY15) - discount code or (AGO - discount for free shipping - you can't go wrong. Also, pads - I've tried LC and Edge - I liked the LC better, but after trying 3M pads - I'm replacing all my others with 3M. You ca get them at a Carquest that sells paint - go to their website and do a search for one near you. Good luck and practice!

I'd say it's determined by usage. If you wil use it often then get a good one. If this is for occasional usage then consider the cheaper alternatives from Harbor Freight. I bought a rotary for $55 with soft start and 1000-3000 rpm range. Soft start is a great feature.
