Protect-All, Is this stuff for real?

Hey everybody, I saw this thread on Team-Integra, and I had to share it with you. This product, Protect-All is supposed to let you wash your car without rinsing it first. I don't buy it at all. Here's the company's website.

Protect-All

And here's the TI.net thread,

Team Integra

Let's hear what you guys think.

Do a search for QEW, you'll find a ton of posts about the product and there are a lot of people that use it.

Cory

I've used it for almost 10 years, would be lost without it.

I use it because i like it, I have a great setup to use the hose ect but like QAE better.

EricZ,

You became a member of Autopia in March and your just hearing about QEW now? It is for real and works great. There are many threads on QEW if you use search.

Wow, sorry guys. I didn't stop to think of searching for it as "quick & easy wash", I just did "Protect-All." Now I've gone and embarrassed myself.:o

Ain't no thang EricZ, I didn't know what QEW stood for, nor did I know who made it until real recently....and I am an old school Autopian from the year 2000!

I started using QEW in the summer of 1993 (or 1992 maybe?) and I love the stuff.

There were a lot of skeptics here when I first mentioned it on autopia. Not so many now. ;)

I just wish it were easier to get. The local place here that was willing to order it for me wanted $44 for a gallon of the stuff. I pretty much need to buy the stuff from Camping World and pay a little less.

Maybe I'll buy a case and spilt it among some locals...

I remember those days! I'm proud to say that I was one of your very first "QEW Disciples". It took me a while to become a true believer, but hey....we're talking about my wife's car. :D

Protectall should be giving Scottwax a cut of the profits they are making from all the QEW they sell:D

And several others here too.:xyxthumbs That's one thing about all of us here at Autopia.....once we find a product we like, we stand behind it....in the case of QEW, we exhalt it!:bow

FYI about Camping World, the will sell your postal address and e-mail address. Camping world will also send e-mail and send catalogs and flyers. Maybe there was check box which I did not check, but since ordering from Camping World I receive all sorts of RV related mail.

I ordered on-line form camping world and no problem with the transaction or shipping.

Camping world does have the best price on QEW, that I could find.

I've actually tried it last week and saw some good initial results. I noticed swirls the next day and I know for sure that it was from the wash. I can tell you if the car is dirty I would try to hose it off first. Or be really carefull when using it. Like double rinse buckets and a good Sea Sponge.

Protectall and several other companies, e.g., Clearkote, Meg's Pro products, Woolite, etc ...

Of course I didn't purchase my VM, American Shine, Woolite, and other stuff, just because Scottwax uses them ... well maybe I did.

Heard Scottwax is considering a PC. I've been considering one too. But that just a coincidence;)

Funny thing is though, I was only accused of pimping Clearkote products. Go figure.

My feeling is if a product works, I want others to know about it so that company stays in business so I can continue to purchase their products.

Scott.... Have you tried the QEW with only one bucket? Do you use a rinse bucket when the car is filthy dirty? I ask because I have tried with one bucket and swirled the finish. I normally do not swirl a finish using the hose and suds.

I use the one bucket method almost all the time unless the car is really filthy. If by swirls you mean drying streaks, you can prevent that by making sure you leave some moisture behind on the paint after the first drying pass (I use thick terry cloth towels with a deep nap for the first pass) and then get the rest with a microfiber towel.

You can go over your paint with QD to remove drying streaks.

Does anyone know how QEW compares to the similar products Dri Wash and Guard and Amsoil's (BriteSide) Miracle Wash?

VV

In comparison to Dri-Wash N' Guard, with QEW you still use water, but it doesn't cause suds, so therefore you don't need to use a hose. It's like washing your car with actual car soap that doesn't sud and does not need to be rinsed off. With Dri-Wash N' Guard, it is an all-in-one liquid that is in an compressed air spray bottle that you spray on a vehicle, wipe to a haze, and then buff off....with no water required. I used to use this stuff (Dri-Wash) before Autopia, and after learning from here, I won't use something like that again. Back then I didn't even know what caused swirls....and trust me, if you don't follow every step down to the "T" with Dri-Wash, you would have an abundance of swirls and scratches. QEW in a rare situation can cause swirls if you use dirty or contaminated towels, chamois, etc. But other than that, QEW is in a league of it's own.:xyxthumbs
