Question for you pro's.

If I am compounding a vehicle is it nessasary to clay first. If so what is the signifigace.

It isn't necessary.

Clay remove contaminants from the paint such as Rail Dust and Industrial fallout making it as smooth as glass.

Claying removes surface contaminants.

Compounding removes "dead" paint to reveal the fresh stuff underneath.
