Proper Way?

Is there a proper way to wipe on and off a QD? I have a Black car and was just wondering if there is a proper way to wipe on and off the FK1-425 I have so that I dont cause swirls or scratches.

spray the qd, then use a quality microfiber towel and wipe off, turn over to a clean side and repeat...

do you wipe the same as if you were applying a wax? Front to back?

That's the way I do it (front to back) but I keep having the urge to wipe in circles. My question is, how much qd do you use? Do you spray a fine mist to try and cover the whole area that you are wiping? Or do you spray a few squirts and then spread it out over a wider area?



The reason I ask is that most QD's state that they can be used on dusty (not dirty) cars, so I'm always afraid if the there's not enough QD on an area, and I start wiping it, I'll be putting scratches in the paint. Obviously this is happening because my black car has a lot of micromarring. I usually QD after it's rained to try and get rid of the water spots. I'd rather live with the micro scratches than the etched in water spots!!! But maybe there is a better way (other than washing...that is!)

I always use my California Duster on the car before I use the QD

I like to spray quite a bit on as small an area as possible, let it sit for a while, and blot off. I try to wipe as little as possible.

"I" spray a couple times in the general area im working on and spread it around the immediate area.

I *don't* do it, unless I have some really awful bird-bomb and can't wash the car.



The acidity of rain water can vary, but here in Ohio (where acid rain is a problem) I don't have any trouble with it etching my finish as long as I keep a healthy layer (or six ) of LSP on there.

Just thought I would throw this out there. I have noticed when trying to QD a panel that is very hot the QD does not come off as easy and forces me to rub harder. Not something that I like to do.
