I'd say just use it like a polishing pad. The cutting pad doesn't really change things all that much when used with a PC. In most cases it will leave a little micromarring and require follow-up with a polishing pad, but there's no real "trick" to using one or special precaution you have to take.
As with anything new, try a limited area first; start sorta slow/easy/gentle while you get a feel for it. I predict you'll quickly get the hang of it. It should make a sorta subtle difference compared to the pads you're used to, taking out the worst marring faster than a milder pad would.
I'd use it with the SSR2.5. Get things a *lot* better then switch to the polishing pad. Get things almost perfect before switching to the SSR1. I wouldn't use a cutting pad with a very mild polish like the SSR1.
