I have aquired a few customers by offering an express detail for 29.99. It really went over pretty good. Now what can I do to get them back in the shop? I have considered offering a light interior shampooing with a complimentary fabric protection. I could really use a few more ideas regarding this topic thanks.

What are you giving them for the 29.99 price?

The problem with some discounts they come back to bite you....the customer get use to that price and level of detailing..........What price do you charge for your regular details?

beemerboy, for 29.99 = hand wash, spray on polyphane express wax from detail king, vaccum the interior, windows, dress tires takes about 45 min.

For a gold package detail cars 100-130 truks/vans 150 - 180 based upon condition

that package sounds good for a special, but i would take out the wax job. that will get your time down to about 20-30 mins. and won't spoil the customer too much. your dollar/time ratio will be alot better and it will be easier to raise the price to include the wax job.

Its not a traditional hand wax. After you wash the car spray on the vehicle while it still wet and then dry. 45 min is a comfortable pace for me.

i have used that wax for the same purpose. it is good for a basic shine. i think you shouldn't give more than you have to, otherwise it will make it harder to justify cost increases to your customers in the future. the main thing is you have to be confortable with what you offer. if it works for go for it. how quickly does your wax dry? i use gold plate by ardex. it takes 15-20 minutes to dry.

I'm a big fan of the express waxes and express type detailing in general. I used to run a special for 24.99 about 10 years ago and did a ton of business. I've always viewed myself as an express / maintenance type detailer. Although now I'm doing a more in depth cleaning and charging the same. I plan to raise prices but not in a rush.

A light shampooing can be a great addition to either a wash or a wax. Designed for vehicles with light soiling / staining or to improve any vehicle. Many use an extractor but I also did it manually. Spray on foam or liquid (trigger or pump sprayer). Agitate with wash mitts, wash and or wax exterior then go back and lightly revac car. What I like is the interior dries quickly and it only takes a few minutes to do. When I used foam I held two cans at a time. Now I use an enzyme cleaner and trigger spray but am getting pump sprayer this week. Most cars it takes 5-10 extra minutes. I do an add on for interior at $40 which covers carpets, mats, seats, door panel, dash and console. If I do just the carpets I'll charge $20 extra, $10 for seats, $10 for interior trim.

Few other things I've done in the past is mail out reminder wax cards at 3 months with $5 or $10 off (reg 45-75). I got about 75% return on those. I don't do it now because most weeks I struggle to handle what I have.

My detailing runs $45 (car wax)-115 (lg suv wax, shampoo) now and has been that way for many years. It was always based around $60 an hour for actual hands on cleaning time. Makes for easy math $1 per minute. Lately on many cars I'm way over on my time because I'm doing way more than my packages are designed for. I'm doing it by choice though so it's no big deal to me.

Another fast way to wax a car in decent shape is after the rinse apply nattys while car is still drying. Quick dry remaining water after you apply wax. I take it off with S & G. Save some stuff to do while wax sets up. I'm not 100% sure how long it takes me but it can't be more than 10 minutes over a normal wash. For weeks now I've been doing most of my regulars cars like that when I washed them. Once I'm sure I like doing it that way I may be bringing back a special for $29.95 :)

I don't know where in the world your located but $29.99 isn't enough for anything. If you figured out your labor rate (which will cover all your expenses and pay you) and your still making money at $29.99 then all th epower to you.

We need to get $60 an hour min. with a two hour min. charge at any one stop.
