Products in Small, Sample-size Amounts?

I'd like to pick up a few sample-sizes of universally useful products (QD, shampoo, stuff like that as opposed to, say, polishes) to contribute to the Jag Club's raffle at the upcoming Christmas party (the proceeds go to Providence House).

In the past I've contributed close-out-priced WWMFs, and last year I got samples of FK425/146 from FK1, but I dunno where to look this year  :nixweiss

Any vendors offer such sizes, preferably nice and cheap?

I saw a sampler kit from Poorboys World, but I think it may have been a SEMA special.

Mothers has "sampler" sizes of their Protectant, shampoo, cleaner wax and Showtime. They retail at around a buck each, so you may be able to get some cheaper. (Not sure if you were looking for a more "upscale" brand.)

Thanks folks, I appreciate all the suggestions.

Some of the companies mentioned are ones I don't do business with (for one reason or another) and nah...I'm not gonna call anybody and ask as I don't want anyone to feel obligated to help me out. I know I could phone up [a number of vendors I patronize] and get something, but I'd rather just spend a little (heh heh, *very* little :D ) money on something.

No Mother's samples in my area....sigh...that woulda been easy. Though something people don't see in the autoparts store would probably appear more "special" (scare quotes intentional, but hey...it's a raffle where people choose their prizes from a pile of stuff).

So far I think Xtreme-Klean might've hit it with the ADS idea, I vaguely recalled that they sell samples so I'll see what they have to offer.

But I'd sure appreciate any additional suggestions too! Last year my pal with the MKII broughtsome Griot's stuff, and I know I can do as well without spending as much money :D

Phil (detailersdomain) throws nice little samplers in big order sometimes, so it's obvious this stuff is out there. Got a small jar of Lusso Oro last time.

Where have you seen the Mothers for sale at?

I haven't seen any for a while, but I have seen them at Dollar stores before.

(And in the "bucket o' stuff" specials that are all samplers and a peanut sponge that seem ever so popular every spring at parts and department stores.

Mr. Accumulator, if you wanted to contact Forrest or Mothers directly ,you may be able to get some shipped to you from California. ([email protected] )

They also have a "car show goody bag" deal that looks interesting (they need 90 days advance warning, though)

contact Optimum products. The owner really helped me out when I did a presentation on ONR for a couple of local car clubs. O is a really great company in my opinion, great products, great service.

Yeah, and they actually sell almost every product in a sample size (8oz or smaller). To me that says tons about a company. Selling sample sizes means you have confidence in your products. The OP seems to shy away from Optimum though, why is that Accumulator?

Nah, I'm not gonna contact any vendors. Given my presence here, and prior/ongoing patronage of certain vendors, I can imagine somebody feeling obligated to help me out and I just don't want to put anyone in that position. Plus, I don't want to put *myself* in the position of having accepted anything like that, even for a good cause.

A few things I might oughta mention: I'm the only serious detailer in the Club, the only guy who'd appreciate most "Autopia-level" products; as it is, I have to run around finding the people who select those prizes so I can explain what the stuff is and how to use it. There'll be all sorts of other stuff provided by others, so I don't need to do anything big. I'll just pick up a few small-size products and maybe some cheap MFs and say "good enough", at least for this year.

Maybe next time I'll go about this differently  I've been toying with the idea of doing some kind of detailing clinic for the Club, and maybe I could get some members more into the whole detailing thing.

As noted, I'm not contacting *any* vendors. But to answer your question, the only Optimum product I like/use at present is ONR, and I don't even use that the way most people do. If I were to contact some vendor, I'd choose somebody whose products I like/use/purchase regularly.

Actually, I *might* buy a few little bottles of ONR. I've recommended it (and even set one guy up with MFs/ONR/etc.) to people in the Club for whom my regular wash regimen isn't feasible. I'd rather sped a few bucks than ask for freebies.

Recently I got a small brochure from Duragloss. There was a picture of a glass container/fish bowl filled with 1oz samples of #901(shampoo). Not sure the cost but I think that would be pretty neat giving those away.

I was just curious, I have never seen you post about any of their stuff other than ONR.

Only tried that and their OCP, which I didn't care for.

Hey, thanks for passing that along!

I think I have everything figured out for this year, but I'm also thinking that I oughta really go about this properly *next* year and that sounds like it'd be worth a phone call.

Eh...I didn't get around to this as early as I should have, but I can see that with a little effort I could make a nice contribution. So if anybody has any other ideas, please post them!

Man, I just *gotta* get somebody in the Club into this stuff...
