Products I finally like enough to review: Prime/AJ

I'm thinking about giving the Werkstatt polish a shot rather than reordering Klasse All in One.

I was impressed with the Acrylic Jet trigger. Very similar to EXP which I use in the sun since I don't have a garage.

Is it true that Prime is the same as Carlack?

Which polish should I go with for a well maintained silver Porsche?

I've got plenty of sealant between AJT and EXP so hopefully prime works well with either.

Go to http://www.carlackusa.com and see where it takes you. ;)

Id go with Prime Strong, put EX-P over it and maintain with AJT. I like PS better than the new AIO just because it has a bit more bite and is, imo, easier to remove.

ha!

so much for a homegrown polish!

Actually I like that its really a German product. My car is German and I've always had a inclination towards maintaining the softer German paints with German detailing products.

Ditto for the interior well 1z is from Belgium but close enough.

I'm also considering Optimum and Menzerma's polishes.

i like to spread my nickels to as many different companies as possible. I find it hard to believe that one single company has the best product for each need. I also like to see companies go with cross compatibility with other companies products and their own products, helps encourage competitive pricing.

I am kicking myself for not ordering the quick wash. I totally should have; I just zoned out when ordering and forgot it. I am a nut for waterless washes, so it would have been right up my alley. :(

Interesting to hear your thoughts on the CJ; I am going to give it a try this weekend and will post my results. Cheers.

I already have prime strong and AJT...Ordered some Acrylic prime, quick wash and Acrylic Gloss. comes in tomorrow.....See how it does.

I just tried CJ and was not terribly impressed. I am going to give it another chance; but my first impression is that it is a little too difficult to apply and that while it is pretty deep and darkens paint, the slickness is not good. Compared to OCW (my long time "stand by" for spray's), it's much more difficult to apply correctly, looks similar, but is much less slick. I will give it another try tomorrow.

Acrylic Gloss on the other hand; I used that today on my car and was very happy with it. It's a lot like any other qd, but the look definitely "goes" well with AJ/AJT, super easy on/off, doesn't streak - god product.

Yeah, I think I'll try Scottwax's technique for applying CJ one of these days and see how it goes. Maybe it just doesn't work well as a WOWO product. Otherwise, I'll probably just get rid of it. I have a bottle of Carnauba Glos too that I haven't even touched yet.

I must have missed Scott's application method for CJ (I don't know how I could have), I thought he applied it the same way it says to on the bottle (spray on, spread, buff, flip buff again). That's what I did and as I mentioned the results were not great. I also have Carnauba Gloss but have not tried it yet.

Try it with less, see how that work. If you use too much, it feel kind of gummy when you first start buffing it out. Slickness is better when you use less too and is also better the next day.

Lately, I have been using it over Prime Carnauba or OCW, seems to go on and off easiest over those two.

..also just want to echo that the "less is more" approach really applies to the Werkstatt stuff. A small amount goes a looong way. After several applications of Prime Strong, it still seems like I have a full bottle left; same goes for Trigger, too.

I don't have nearly as much experience with using these as others, but this is something I definitely noticed.

Ah ok - I was using it like I use OCW; so a full spritz per panel. That is probably too much.

Pennypacker - you're absolutely right. I can't believe how little AJ I used when I did my car.

Got my order (another) yesterday Did not try the quick wash or Acrylic prime yet, but I DO like the Acrylic Gloss. You hit it on the head; no streaks, easier the AJT I think and no marring etc.

Like it alot going with the JW collection.

I just ordered some Prime Acrylic and some Acrylic Jett Trigger...Hopefully the Prime Acrylic, FK1-425 and follow ups with ACJ will work for me since I do not have a lot of time to spend on my car...

Update on both AJ/AJT and CJ.

RE: AJ/AJT, I am still very impressed. Gloss seems to last well through multiple downpours with only drying (no qd, no more ajt), beading is very good.

RE: CJ, I tried this on another two cars. The first I did the spray method and used much less product like Scott described and was still rather unimpressed. Application was a bit tiresome (it's "gummier" than OCW) even using much much less product.

However I then decided to try something different. Yesterday I had a monthly wash on a black CLK500. Last month I put Nattys Blue on it and it was still holding up well, but I had time and the owner approved, so I polished with prime strong, buffed off, then used CJ. Instead of spraying CJ I put a flip top on it and used it via PC. I applied with a grey finishing pad at speed 2, application was much easier; very smooth, spread well, required very little products. Removal was *much* easier. I let it sit for about 10 minutes while I dressed the tires then buffed off effortlessly. Gloss was much better than before; it looks a lot like Megs #26 to me in terms of its good gloss, wetness, depth, and reflectivness. I am concerned that this method of application may impede durabilty, but I will know more in a month.

I will continue to use it via spray to see if I can't nail down the issues I am having w/it, but I am also going to use it via PC in a pinch.
