my car is only 1 and 1/2 years old and i want it too look even better then it does. The reason is because my first year of owning i only heard of appling wax and takeing wax off with the wax on/wax off method. Well if i cause the swirl marks or not i am going to make it look clean as i can by the end of this summer. I just started using #7 and #26 and it makes my car look already better then i bought it but i can still see the swirls in the paint. So i am going to have all these products for my use to make my car have it's perfect paint.

Chenille Wash Pad - $5

4-Pack yellow FOAM-APPLICATORS - $5

The Porter Cable 7424 Dual Action Polisher - $140

There is an enormous wealth of information on the PC, just do a search. Several tutorials and pad breakdown information.

Oh and are you going to be using QD daily? :up

I would stay away from the Meg's Trim Detailer...i used it a week ago, and it was extremely greasy. I recently got some Stoners Trim Shine, and Mother's Back To Black...both seem to be WAY better then the Meg's.

I plan on using the back to black on all trim, and then keep it looking good with the stoners.

Disclaimer: I am still a relative newbie, do not take my advise as completely true.:wavey edit: oh yeah, this is also MY opinion, and in no way represents the opinions of the autopian community as a whole. (i think i'll put that in my sig)

i will if you say so :) so i wipe dust off with cal. duster, then spray QD on cloth wipe the same way as it was a polish then buff off right? Any type of QD you suggest? i have a bottle of the QD spray that comes with the mother claybar, is it anygood or is there better?

Yeah goto your local Sherwin Williams and pick up a gallon of meg's #34, if it's not in stock they can get it in a few days. If you wanna spend some cash, look into Clearkote's QD, haven't tried it but it sounds amazing from reading on here. It is similar to a carnauba QD, think they use some vanilla stuff, so I believe it will extend the life of your wax job, correct me if I'm wrong. The #34 is non-carnauba so it is great for all-purpose use, like during steps 4 and 5.

Man I wanna get the California Duster! After a recent impuse buying spree on products... this stuff is expensive and I'm broke!

Btw good to see a fellow celica owner on here :bounce :smirks at all the 911 and bmw owners:

Yeah, us celica owners are invading :) You should check out coastal tool for the PC. I bought one from there today, $119 for the PC w/ polishing pad, velco backing plate, and counterweight. Also someone has mentioned that you can get the foam pads for applying the wax 4/$1 at local hardware stores. Your system looks good, in about two weeks I should have pictures up of my detail with a PC and we can compare :)

The QD that comes with the Mothers clay kit, Showtime, is good stuff. :up Run a search on this name. Shake it up, spray on cloth and/or paint, wipe it around with one side of the MF then flip it over for the final drying buff. You shouldn't be using it like a polish and trying to rub it in. :nono Also, like all QDs don't use it (or the CCD) on hot paint.

I noticed you don't have any wheel or tire cleaner listed. I highly recommend Eagle One A2Z. Really strong, easy to get, and can be used on tires too. Just follow directions.

Lots of tips and usage guides can be found in the Learn! link above, the Autopia eBook, and by using the search engine. Sometimes older threads go into more detail because it was "new" then. By the way, buying the eBook not only supports this site, but entitles you to updates and a permanent 10% Autopia store discount....

i could not find the e-book? and what is CCD? About the wheel and tire cleaner i wash my wheels with car wash soap and i use Vinylex for my tires then i usely apply a coat of wax on my wheel to make them shine. Is this method bad? looks nice

Here's the Free version of the eBook for now. http://autopia-carcare.com/lib/autopia/Autopia.exe I believe DavidB should be coming out with a new version shortly which you can buy. It doesn't sound like you can still buy the older version for now...

CCD? Don't forget the Search feature. ;) Here's a good thread with a link to a test on it too: http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12270&highlight=ccd+california+car+duster

Actually, the way you clean your tires and wheels right now is by default, the safest and gentlest method. :up It's just more work than using wheel cleaner products (which would probably remove the wax on them). If you're happy with doing it this way, keep it up!
