Products at Target

The Rainmaker
Since my wife wanted to go to our Super Target today, I thought I would check out some of the detailing products I have heard they are carrying.
They were out of the Meguiar's Water Magnet Waffle Weave.
The Vroom MF's didn't impress me at all.
They had a lot of what are new to me , Rubbermaid detailing tools.
I did purchase a Rubbermaid hose nozzle and was not at all satisfied with it. The threads were screwed up and I had to use a file on them before it would even screw on a hose connection. The trigger didn't open the nozzle wide open so water pressure was limited. When using the lockon feature of the nozzle, the jet setting was little more than a trickle. I used it less than 5 minutes and put my old nozzle back on the hose.
The Rubbermaid nozzle is going back to Target.
Based on my experience with the nozzle and after looking at some of their brushes, I doubt that I will be buying many Rubbermaid accessories.

The Vroom's I've used actually aren't that bad, especially considering they're like 3 bux for 2 towels. I was afraid to even pick up the Rubbermaid stuff; I wouldnt trust them for detailing tools.

vroom towels are nice if it wasnt for their edging. one edge even hurt quite a bit when i pressed my finger along the edge. but the towels do feel very plush. other than the edging a simple smart folding of the towel would eliminate any problem.

The Rubbermaid retractable detailing brush is actually a decent tool. The bristles do a very good job of getting into the cracks in dashes and around trim. The bristles are also pretty soft. That said, most of the stuff isn't going anywhere near my paint, Target is a good place to get a lot of stuff but there are better detailing tools to be had elsewhere.

I purchased 8 of the Vroom MF's at Target since I was in desparate need of some and all of my others were dirty and I kept forgetting to wash them (Procrastination...), and I was impressed. I've only used the MF's that Golden Gate North carries (P&S retailer), and the ones from Costco, so my use of different MF's is very limited. I still felt comfortable using them, and they're sure a lot more plush than the Costco ones :shifty:

ROCK

For the MF towels get PB line I have some from Golden Gate and they are not even close to the quality of Steves...

I find the Vrooms to be excellent MF's, especially for around 1.50 each. I too had Coscos, and they have been relegated to wheel and wheel well duty, cuz they lint everywhere and certainly dont glide over glass or paint.

Try the blue Wal-Mart MF made by Microtex. 70/30 polyester/polyamide content, respectively, come 8 to a pack for $4.86 and are about 12-14"x12-14". They're not as plush as the drying towel, which is a pretty good deal IMO, but for the quantity and price, it's hard to beat.

probally the same as the sams club microfibers. there a good bargin and their fairly plush. no PB but decent for the price.

All of the ones at wal-mart I am not comfortable with. I run my fingers through them and can tell a major difference between those and quality MF's from the vendors around here... the vroom's didn't impress me, but maybe that's because I'm spoiled with super plush ones? The target around me is beginning to carry the meguiars brushes and Water Magnets... we'll see what else they bring.

Interesting. The Targets here are closing out their Meguiar's accessories like brushes and MF's of any type. I did buy a couple of the Meg's Water Magnet Waffle Weave MF's for $6.82 each. Should have bought more since they have disappeared from the two Target stores that my wife has been in recently.

Wow $6.82 for the Meguiar's Water Magnet WW is a pretty good price. I wish my Target would carry the new Meguiar's towels and brushes. I just saw them in AutoZone going for around $12.

I use Vroom MF's now because they are cheap and are very good quality IMO. They don't last on cars that I detail and I usually throw them away after 20 or so uses.

their large yellow MF drying towel is by far the best one I have ever used personally. All for $7.95. I normally use WW towels to dry or the ""big blue"" towel (really like) but this towel is in another league.

Ahhh....

Vroom - you can't miss it if it is in stock. Light yellow and sells for $7.95

Pretty big.26x40 or so.

What type of weave is it? Is it a thick terry type weave or something else?

Micro fibre towel

Yeah I know that it's microfiber. MF comes in different weaves though. It can be waffle weave, terry type weave, the smooth silk type weave, etc. What type of MF is this yellow towel you are talking about?
