Product value?

Disclaimer: I am not selling this product. I am only getting feedback from DC.

I have a friend who is looking to unload some products as his health is forcing him to get out of the detailing scene. He wanted to sell me the whole kit and kabootle, but I told him that he would probably do better selling it off one at a time. I don't really know what a fair price is for used detailing supplies. I was hoping that some of you who have sold used products before could give me an idea as to what he might expect to get for these products. He'll probably either have to sell them on another board or put them up on ebay. Any feedback on what you think would be fair market value for these products is appreciated. Again, I am not selling these products.

Not really answering your question, but I think it might be easier and better to sell them in related packs, like Spilchy did on aBay at autopia. Like, for instance, sell the Klasse AIO and SG together, sell the PPP and EX together, the SSR2.5+2+1 together, the WG Pre-wax with one of the carnaubas, the 4* cleanser with the other, all or some of the pads with the PC (definitely the edge one obviously), and include a MF in each pack. Sorry, but I don't know typical used prices well enough to appraise.

Edit-Take a look at what stuff on aBay is going for. You might want to sell it there; it seems people get decent prices. And yeah, DON'T mention it's a distress sale.

Sounds like Sherman has a pretty good idea on how to break it up.
Unfortunately, the guy is probably not going to do too good pricewise. Even the new, unused stuff will most likely bring no more than 1/2 price and the used stuff, people will try to steal.
It's tough to get any money out of the stuff when you don't have to get out.
Once people find out it is a distress sale, it is even worse.

With the assortment he has, you might find someone in the business to take it all in a package. There doesn't seem to be much redundancy in the products and they are all good products that a detailer would appreciate.

Maybe it could be sold at one of the various detailing get togethers.

The PC and pads could probably sell easily. Heck, I'd be willing to offer some sort of price for it. The product is another story. It's tough to move it for anything more than 1/2 price. If I actually did details for a living, I snap it all up. But right now, I'm actually trying to get rid of a lot of my supplies.

Jngr, what happened to your fellow?

You know how it is... Abuse your body with detailing for so long and at some point it will just say 'enough!'. I may be looking at 'retirement' myself in a year or two with as bad as my knees are getting. <insert smiley with a cane limping like an old man here>

Those are good suggestions about grouping the product. He may not be able to get more than 50% of their original value on their own, but paired up he might be able to get 65% or more on some of them. I'll suggest that and have him check the market on the boards that sell products. Thanks for the tips. This will be useful information in the future for people looking to sell off their products. :yourrock
