I use steam to clean leather. I use a Desidero, it cleans extremely well, you just need to be concerned that it could damage vinyl. While I don't have enough time booked with it, I wonder if it is introducing unnecessary stress to the leather? I steamed my 3 month old leather Jeep seats this week as I spilled 10lbs of linguine and clam sauce in the back seat. No damage from the steamer, the seats still look new.

I steamed a Nissan Altima interior and the door panel vinyl felt "gummy" while I was steaming. Maybe I heated up the glue that holds the vinyl to the panel? There was no damage, but I could see a potential problem if I left the steam on there too long.

I haven't used leathermasters (which was asked earlier) and I have used a steamer. Since leatherquie cleans everything out (so just as well) and restores the conditoners, IMO, it wins hands down.

Have you used connolly? I have it but I do not have leatherique. They are both around the same price, connolly is actually higher cost per oz. because you only get 8oz but it is a paste rather than a liquid.

How does Leatherique perform on a Marauder interior?

IMO, Leatherique is in a class by itself. If you haven't experienced it, it's hard to appreciate how different it is compared to the others. However, if you're not a patient person, and you're not following a proven process, you won't like it.



Leathermasters also offers some excellent (potent) products. I've sampled their HD cleaner and it works well.



The nice thing about Leatherique is that once you get things back to where they should be (following years of neglect), only minimal care is required to keeps things looking new. That's what I appreciate most.

It add 25-30 dyno proven hp to the rear wheels and tightens up the 1-2 shift!

Another high point of this product can be viewed in post #7 - - the black interior of the old 928. The leatherique system has some ability to close up those age cracks. In some cases, it can virtually hide them as the leather "swells" slightly during and after the application of the RO. This is what I was going after in my Benz and had what I'd describe as 80% success.



Basic process: Apply RO, dwell in heat for several hours (up to 4oz per seat as required). Mist on the Cleaner, wipe down with damp towel or sponge.



I strongly recommend using gloves when applying the RO.



Don't attempt this in cold weather. The RO needs heat to be absorbed into the coated leathers found in most cars. Find a hot day during the summer and let the car sit. I like the plastic bag trick. I didn't have adequate cleaning 'til I employed this method (on a hot day).
 
Wow! Fantastic improvement. I have a combination of leather and alcantra on my seats. Will the leatherique stain other fabrics other than leather?



For example your application pads, do they get left with a stain?

My first question is, does the leather retain its original Matte finish or does the leatherique add shine/gloss? I prefer to have an OEM matte look.



Second question is: If I applied the RO on a hot day and just let the car sit in the sun with the windows closed, Will that generate enough heat for it to work properly?

No, no need for anything stronger, because, IMO, all the dirt is floated out of the leather. Much like P21s Wheel Gel, this is one of those "gentle" products that works over time, vs. something strong that works fast.



It cleans everything, so IMO, its strong enough.

I've used the product now on and off for about 10 years. The hotter it is outside the better the product works. I have also found that when the weather is cool and wrap the seats in plastic and use a hair dryer to get the temp on the seats and in the vehicle as hot as bearable. Cuts down on the waiting time.

Thats exactly what you want to do.
 
This is an awesome problem. Only thing is when I transfered my conditioner to a generic plastic bottle, it created a oil film where it had seeped through the plastic. Interesting phenomenon....
 
Todd, your brilliance and knowledge of everything detailing never ceases to amaze me! I have some leatherique (i need to buy some srpay bottles for them now) and used them on seats in my room from my grandfather old 356 cabriolet (the car was totaled but we still have the seats) and leatherique worked GREAT! I didnt let it dwell (and i didnt leave it in heat) BUT it worked better then lexol did. This summer im guna have to do em over again and keep em outside for a day.

I just ordered some... It's not that expensive on Leatheriques site. A 32 oz bottle of each was just under $67 shipped. It will be months before I get to use it because of the cold. I'm splitting it with Heath, so I'm sure he'll be using it before me.

I didn't even place the order 10 minutes ago, I already have a UPS shipping notification and a tracking number...
 
I bought a large bottle,64oz. I think of this product and I cant wait to try it on my 1996 Jaguar XJS. Question , should I put the top down to get direct sun exposure for the process, or top up to get it even hotter?
