Product Review: Adam's VRT

JaredPointer

COME AT ME BRO
Packaging: Very nice bottle with catchy black, red, and chrome label. 12 ounces. Flip-top dispenser, which allows for very precise product placement on the applicator.

Product: Product is a white “lotion” with a smell that reminded me of hair conditioner/pina coloda. It is more of a thick/viscous product as compared to some other vinyl and rubber products from off-the-shelf, which seem to be a little watery.

Directions: Broken down into interior and exterior on the label. Relatively concise and to the point. “Apply a small amount of VRT to the detail sponge” could be misleading, depending on what you think a small amount is. I found that I needed to vary the “small amount” depending on what I was applying to. I think I will just have to play with the amounts and see if I can find what is the “right” amount.

Detail Sponge: This sponge came in the kit. I found it to be a little big for interior needs, so decided to cut a thin piece off it to use for interior while keeping the bigger piece for tires/exterior.

Interior Ease of Use: Applied a “small” amount to the outer rim of the slim pad, similar to applying product to the pad of a PC. Squeezed the foam app, and applied to the dash and all vinyl in the cabin. Applies very easily, but I found that I needed to buff with a MF to get the low-gloss look that I like (as suggested on directions). After completing application on the interior, it left a good smell inside. Seems that VRT does not attract dust.

Exterior Ease of Use: Applied about the same amount on the big foam app in the same fashion as the interior. Applied to mud flaps, plastic on the bumper, front valance, and tires. Again, very easy to apply with the foam app, EXCEPT for the tires. This is due to the tires on the vehicle (BF Goodrich All-Terrain TA’s), which are very “luggy” on the outer portion of the tire. I have not found anything that is easy to apply to these that won’t sling except for Teflon Tire Shine. However, I went ahead with the task at hand and applied the VRT to the tires. Gave a good deep, low-gloss shine to the tires. It has not slung and I have driven about 50 or so miles with it on the tires. Seems to be holding up good, only time will tell.

Overall, I think the VRT is a very good product, which gives excellent results. I would recommend it for those who like low-gloss as I found that it looks a lot better after being buffed. I will probably not use it on the tires again, but I think VRT would work well on low profile tires or tires with a little less aggressive design as mine. I will continue to use this on the interior of my truck.

Nice review Jared :)

I feel the same way about the product.

I didn't buff off on the interior as a like a little 'sheen' to the look. The tires definately do vary because some tires no matter what chew up applicators. This stuff worked out real well for me today :).

Do you guy's find that you have to use alot of product to do the tire's ?? Especially on truck/suv all terrain tire's . What about cleaning ability on tire's ?? How did it hold up for you after a rain or wash ??

Also Adam does have small and large applicator's (I think)

Update

Update: It rained on me last night, so now I can vouch for the durability of the VRT I suppose. The tires still have that deep black look. The VRT didn't decide to come off or start slinging after the rain. Looks as good as when I applied it. Another big :bigups to Adam's VRT. I hope to get to use some of the other stuff soon and let everyone know what I think of it. :)

Update #2: Got a chance to use the VRT on my brother's girlfriends Lexus IS300 tires. These are a low profile style tire. The product was much easier to apply with the foam applicator than it was on my personal tires. The product just seemed to flow right on the tire. There is a small "rib" design on the tire's sidewall and the VRT filled in even and smooth. It also seemed to give a higher sheen than when used on my personal tires. Once again, :bigups

That is Awesome to hear Jared! :bigups

Glad the applicator worked out for you in the end.....a lot less on your hands :lol

Nice review Jared. One question. How did you cut the applicator? I have tried in the past with sissors and razors and alway end up messing them up.

Thanks

It was tricky and it took a little patience. I took a razor blade and went around the sponge. I guess you could say I scored it. Then I worked it little by little till I had a liitle "core" holding the different ends together. Then I got some scissors and slid in the score and cute the "core." I was surprised at how evenly cut it came out. Looking really closely, I could tell which was the side I cut, but I don't think it was a huge deal. For what it's worth, I used the "factory" faces of the two app pads as the side that did the applying.

Thank you Jared. I am going to give it a try. App seems too thicvk to get into some areas like the dash right up to the windshield for example. I really like the MF towel they sent though. Could be my new towel as the PB ones I bought are falling apart after only 2-3 washes. Very disappointed in them to say the least!!!!

...and that was one of the major reasons for getting these new ones; they hold up even better than our previous durable ones.
