Hi-

I think I've been away from this forum for almost 2 years and am back looking for some product insight. What I was looking for is a quick 30 sec. response to this question. Let's say you own NO detailing products what would you buy and use on a new black Outback? Just give me the product name and maybe a quick line or two as to why you think this product would be the one I should consider.

Guidelines: just give me the "paint protection" product, I think I can search my way thru to how to prep the paint before the "wax" application. (Also I have used and still have these products: Blitz, Souveran, Klasse AIO/SG and Zaino). Been gone a couple of years from the detailing world and just wanted your 30 sec response. What's new out there and worth a try?

Thanks.

TOL has a new black wax called Black Velvet and I really like it. Hi-Temp has a gloss enhancer called Midnight Express that I've used before applying the Black Velvet Wax and the results have been stunning on my black Dodge Dakota.

You have the Klasse twins. If you don't like using them, keep practicing until you do because Klasse should be one of the easiest and most durable products you could hope for. I used it the first time this weekend in about 6 months and was reminded of how incredibly fast the entire process is (WOWO).

If you like the carnauba experience, stay with AIO and top with Trade Secret from TOL, Natty's, or P21S/S100. I'd recommend #16, but I hear Taps playing in the distance:(

Menzerna FMJ - a fairly durable sealant that has a definite carnauba look to it. Prep the surface with the newer Menzerna polishes.

Menzerna IP

Menzerna FPll

Klasse AIO

Zaino Z2Pro

Pinnacle Souveran

Took longer to type than to select:xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs

You got all quality LSP already, Focus on prep and any one of the products in your inventory will protect that prep time investment.

Also, Zaino has up-graded the Z2 formula twice in the last few years. The newest version, Z2-PRO is just plain great IMHO.

Stick with Souveran, Klasse AIO/SG and Zaino!! They are still the best! Check out the new Zaino Z2 Pro and soon to be released Z8 sealant.

As for sealant protection on black: Menzerna IP (if needed), FP II, FTG, FMJ. The FTG darkens the paint and makes the sealant, FMJ, look very deep and glossy.

It depends on how far you want to go (more than 30 seconds). Take a few of the waxes you see in this thread and do a live comparison.....

Because if you ask me.............I can only recommend one wax as the ultimate..........................Zymol.

So, just do your comparisons and decide.

Edit: I left the prep products to your choice bc it seems like you were asking for the finish product.

:)

wow, I appreciate all your responses, many thanks and exactly what I was looking for in order to get back into the detailing world. I see that 5 people mentioned UPP and I'm clueless as to what it is. Same thing with Menzerna. Guess I need to read up and see what these two products are all about.

fyi....so you have a sense of what I like and dislike with the products I currently own and still use.

blitz - never really like the product, thought it left white residue in seams if i wasn't careful with the application and removal.

klasse - good paint protection but didn't do it for me in terms of the look on either dark or light colored cars.

souveran - awesome on red and black cars, actually my favorite because it deepens the color. i like the rich, oiley look but it's not great for longevity. used as a topper over klasse.

zaino - love the slickness of the paint after application, i use it on a silver car, don't like the reflectivity of it on red or black.

so if i could find a product that has the look of carnauba....and the protection of zaino or klasse, that's the one i want to try this time around.
