Using 7424 to remove a few fine scratches on my roof. Pictures tell most of the story, but here are the questions:
1) Why is the material "chunking" up so much on the roof (see the picture)? I am thinking too much compound.
2) How much compound should I be using? I finally settled on barely enough to make the surface have haze as I moved over it, but usually only in the middle of the pad stays wet (after the chunking picture I reduced qty of stuff).
3) The white pad has 3m swirl mark remover, I used very little material and applied it to the outer edge, but no matter how I apply it, the center gets loaded, and the outer edges go dry (same with the compound). Why is this?
4) I have HUGE amounts of dust from the compounding, is this normal? It makes an awful mess and now I need to wash the whole car all over again.
I actually just bought some 4" pads witha 3.5" backer to try to resolve the problem I have of the center getting loaded, and outer edges going dry.
