Problems with ClearKote

I am not sure if this is where I should be posting this but it seems right so here goes...

It started two weeks ago, I placed an order for VM hand glaze on Monday March 22. I have waited patiently and nothing arrived. I also did not receive and shipping notification, however I was charged by them for the product asap

Now, skip forward to last friday. During bussiness hours I place a call, stating the problem and giving two forms of contact. Its now Monday, two weeks down the road and no contact has been made by them and no product has arrived.

I am especially mad, and maybe this is just me, but for 8 friggin dollars to ship one stinking bottle I would expect that to arrive before the end of the first week, let alone the second week. I am not a happy camper, I am placing another phone call telling them if they dont get it together and call me the next thing they recieve from me will be a letter from my lawyer, I am fed up at this point and feel they should at the least refund the shipping cost to make up for this :angry

I'm very surprised. I've had nothing but exceptional dealings with Everett...the owner of ClearKote. Have you been able to reach him directly? If not, I'd keep trying until you talk to him directly. From what I understand, it's a very small operation and he's a hands on kinda guy. Something must be wrong.

No, I tried to call the toll free line and the cell number listed on the web site. I cant get anybody on the phone. I am sorry, but like I said in my last message, for 8 fuc&in dollars it should have been to me 3-4 days.

And I find it totally unacceptable that I still have yet to receive a call or an email response back.

I have had similar problems with Clearkote when I ordered some VM. When I finally contacted them they told me they were out of town.

Once I got ahold of them my order was shipped right away with no issues at all.

I know the waiting game is hard but once its shipped you will be more than happy with the products.

:up

I see, and its not that I dont understand that people have lives outside of their work. HOWEVER, IMO you need to inform your audience of this, make a note of it on the front page of your website or something.

My problem lies here, if they go away and I am left just waiting with no response whats my 8 dollars for? I mean I find that a bit over the top in the first place to spend 8 dollars shipping for 1 bottle of product. I thought to myself, whatever if the service and product are what everyone says. When something like this happens, I have a problem spending the 8 dollars for that level of service.

If everett is as standup as you all say, I would expect a shipping refund as I find this unacceptable. Luckily the weather in NJ hasnt been good enough for me to be detailing anyway. But what if it was, I guess I should just miss out, isnt my 8 dollars supposed to prevent this long waiting and missed detailing days :nixweiss

Thats how I feel about it.

Believe me..I understand...I dislike buying online for that very reason..I'd rather drive 2 hours just so I can have it..RIGHT NOW. Waiting is tough. It's funny, because my dealings with ClearKote have been so impressive. I even recieved a present in the mail just because my order had "an issue". I just hope things are OK with Everett, and I'm sure you'll be very pleasantly impressed when it does come.

Wow, after about 20 min of this post being up...I got a phone call from clearkote.

They are emailing my tracking number, which I told them I would have expected to recieve in an email regardless. They were away, they shipped on the 29th. It arrived according to them on Friday, which is possilbe I need to check with my god parents they usually tell me when something arrives and didnt mention it to me.

However my opinions stand, 8 dollars for one week delayed shipping and then an additional week for me to get it is not my idea of quick/good service. I also stated to them that they should have made aware to those buying during that time that they were gonna be away.

Will I order from them again :nixweiss I guess we will see how the product is, it better be damn good for me to order another bottle.

There are several other Clearkote dealers on this board that would probably appreciate your business besides Mr. Glass. But seriously, I have ordered from Mr. Glass several times and have never expericenced any problems.

I agree with andriver don't buy directly from Clearkote if you don't have to. Scott from SMP is a great guy to do business with, and the fact that his shipping is $5.95 compared to $8 is a little better. I received my package within 2 or 3 days so for me it was worth it.

Breakneck, this post might explain your delay to some degree.

Not trying to make light of your anger. Ordering from guys like Everett@Clearkote or Steve@Poorboys is not like ordering from Megs or 3M. These guys are one man shows. When they sleep, eat or leave the house, the business is in "answering machine" mode. IMHO, I would rather try to support hard working entrepreneurs that offer great products, rather than supporting mega corporations, that take orders via boiler rooms. To me its even worth paying a little more or waiting a little longer.

When all else fails, try to remember....its just a bottle of car wax. ;)

:bow Great post :bow

I never had any problem with them, and I live on the other side of the ocean :xyxthumbs

Ranney at www.pakshak.com is now a Clearkote distributor, and I think he also offers free shipping to USA and Canada orders - this might just be on his microfibre cloths though, you'd have to check.

His service is always excellent, when I order my microfibres from him, they always arrive within a week, and I live in the UK! I'd give him a try if I lived yourside of the Atlantic.

I'd go with Ranney too. Great guy to deal with and he doesn't have to go on the road 8 months out of the year like Everett does. Or move to Arlington and buy it from HYPERformance like I do. ;)

I do agree that Everett should find some way to stay in closer contact with his customers while at car shows.
