Problems accessing the site

I've done everything I can do. I am told the problem is almost definitely a cache issue.

Either from your computer or your ISP.

Those of you who are having trouble. Who is your ISP?

My ISP is Qwest. Maybe I'm one of the lucky few but I never had a minute's problem until the server change. I have zero problem going anywhere else but DC is a constant problem now. Nothing has changed on my end but something did on the DC end. That doesn't mean that the new change isn't a compatibility issue with what I'm already using but there are too many of us experiencing the problem since the server change. Is the number of members hitting the site down since the change? I think it's we've got to look at the constant and DC is the common denominator. Seriously what do we know to have changed? Common sense tells me that your ISP or server provider/programmer is the issue. I'm sorry, I'm not raggin' on you. I know this is a huge headache.

could the site have some kind of spam blocker on :idea

well i thought I'd throw it out there .... where are all our IT guys :notme:

My ISP is Qwest.

Same here. Qwest DSL. I'll try it with the WWW in front of it, but how I get to the site hasn't changed a bit. I use the Avant browser and it lets me use shortcut urls to navigate. I have it set so when I type 'DC' in the browser bar it will take me to http://www.detailcity.org, so it can't be how I am accessing it. If it weren't for the message that I see when I try to access it I would think that I was banned. Have you done any IP bans lately that could have affected some people?

I use IE @ work (which is where I am having the problem) and it says that there is an error.
this is the message
error on page.
problems with this web page might prevent it from being displayed properly or funcctioning properly.

I have no idea if this is what is causing the problem, but I thought I would throw it out.

If it a cache problem why does it work every other day.

Sounds like someone don't know what they are doing and trying to pass it off.
.
Last week she was saying it would correct itself.

I have EMBARQ DSL and it works flawless on ALL the Internet except Detail City.

When I try to log on I get the message that the site will be down for a few hours for maintenance.

I don't know if it was working last night because I did not try it I was on MOL but it was down all through the day.

I have removed ALL of my temp files and ALL of my cookies and it still did not work.

OMG ... I am able to log on at work.
I don't know if anything was changed, but as of yesterday I couldn't get on from here.

That's an error that has been there since before the change over. It doesn't effect being able to log on. I get that same error at the bottom but everything works fine and it only shows up in Internet Explorer I am told.

My programmer is not the only one I have talked to about this. They all say this will correct itself. I'm trying to be patient and I'm hoping everyone here can be too.

I wish there was something I could do but there just isn't. If it's frustrating you then take a break from the site for a few days and check back.

Jay said he can get on at work now which means his ISP finally picked up the new server. In other words it fixed itself. We have done nothing else to resolve it.

Well I was able to get on ... When I went back later. I was on but the info was from the day we changed over .... really weird :wow:
Kind of like it went back to the old server for some reason:dunno:

Right. The NEW VB is fine, the NEW server is fine. When you guys see the down for maintenace message, you are viewing the old server.

The files on the previous server still exsist and certain ISPs rely on cached information rather that achknowleding the new DNS numbers. Some had mention that this is the only site they are having issues with, of course it is, it's probably the only one that had a major server upgrade, it will get better.

Troy just needs to shut down the old server and you ISP needs to pickup the new DNS, issue will be resolved.

Hope this helps everyone to understand what's happening.

I do try to understand it but with no luck.

Actually I know a lot more now about this stuff than a year ago. Not doing much good as far as this access issue is concerned.

Everything has been wiped from the old server so hopefully that was what the problem was.
