A good friend of mine had his annual "Old Cars & Elvis Bash" tonight. Everyone was to drive their old cars to his house, have some burgers and brats and enjoy the entertainment of "Elvis"....
But this was no ordinary "Elvis" impersonator.
His name is Tarry Westley. He auditioned as a backup singer for Elvis in 1967 when he was 18 years old. His voice was so much like Elvis's that RCA records immediately signed him and called off the remaining auditions.
He was with Elvis for 10 years until his death in '77.
He had so many stories and the resemblence to Elvis's voice was uncanny!!! Granted, he doesn't look ANYTHING like Elvis, but the voice!!!!
Excellent evening of entertainment, cars and food! I know you've seen many of these cars before because these are the guys I run with. (I also detail their cars!!!!)
Ken has an extremely nice home on 10 acres in a secluded, wooded area of Independence Missouri.
Lots of pics:
I'll show the Elvis pics in the next post....
