Hello everyone

My second detail today is a small nissan (Silver)

He is a buddie of mine and he wants:

wash
polish
wax
tire dress

i have seen the vehicle and it is in decent condition

I dont have a pc yet so all products will be hand applied:

GC wash
Megs DCP
Megs #26

sorry no clay

So what i am getting at here is what would you charge for a detail like this. I usually have int and ext packages so im not exactly sure. I want to make money but dont want to rip him off.

THANKS

Greg

$100 if removing marring by hand, in the cold. $0 if he helps and brings over some beers and hangs out for a few hours.

Well im doing it more to give him some shine and protection not really so much to get all the defects out .. i will do that next month by then i will have my pc. Also im 16 so maybe ill give him a deal if he brings some pop or sodas . im plannin on $50

Its always hard to decide what to charge a friend. I guess it all depends on the time spent and how close of a friend he is. It may also sound a bit shady but I do charge more to my friends who make alot of money (I do a full detail to my buddy's Mazda pickup for half what I charge my buddy who drives a new 5 series). Personally I would throw him a deal and do it for ~70; just tell him to spread that word about how good of a job you did (give him your business cards). One more thing, if he has the potential to bring in alot of business, a solid 3-5 people, throw him a freebie.

ok if your 16 I NEVER told your friend to bring beer over :D
$50 sounds good for whaqt you are planning on doing.

I do my prices based on an hourly rate. I would probably charge about 60-80 for that particular job if I was working without a PC.

With a PC it would probably be $40-$60. I would probably use a product like NXT to polish and wax in one step if I was going to cut out the clay and swirl removal anyway. If I was going to use a seperate wax and polish then I would use AIO and probably something like Liquid Souveran. Both of those products are really fast to use by PC. For a friend I would give them the "good buddy discount" and round down. It would probably be a $40 job.

HEllo

thanks for all you help with the pricing. It turned out this "buddie" didnt show up and didnt have the curtesy of calling me... so me and my best freind washed his car. It turned out to be an ok day.

Thanks again

Greg

That suck's !! I hate inconsiderate people. Glad the day turned out OK.

Anyway I usually charge anywhere between 80-175 for exterior , depending on what's desired or needed. If it's a friend or really hot chick the price's are negotible .....lol

For the old folk's that live across the street that can't wax their own car's anymore , but want to keep them nice . I do a 1 step or maybe 2 step for free about 2x per year in spring & fall. I'm a believer in giving back and it put's a nice smiley glow on their face everytime I do it. They alway's try to pay me something but I never take it. Beside's it give's me a chance to try out new product's on a car that only get done 2x per year. The car's are nice , but needless to say somewhat neglected since they can't really do anything but drive them.
