Pretty cool trick I thought of.

It would be interesting to do a SS panel (hood or trunk) with Collinite on one side and Mother's on the other and see which one does better in the short and long run.

man... I havent tried Collinite but I have tried Mothers cleaner wax....... and from what i've read the collinite would kick its AS* back and forth in every way.

How is your paint holding with just the Carnauba?

*In my IMHO* I believe that sealants are the king in durability and Carnauba have better protection. What I mean is that Carnauba will repeal bug, bird bombs and hard water stains for the first say 3 to 4 weeks better than a sealant will but after that the sealants durability kicks in. I have been use Carnauba for 20 plus years and haven’t had a problem with any of my paints but they do take more work to maintain but to me the extra effort is worth the finial product. I know that goes against the general the concept that sealant is better in everyway but I just don’t subscribe to those thoughts. Go to some of the forums that sealant rules - like corvettefoms.com and do search for bird bomb, water etching, and bug stains and you will see hundreds of threads and then a search here and you don’t see near as many with over double the amount of posting. Just my personnel thoughts about the subject. :2thumbs:

Like Fido said, I'm also positive that the Collinite would provide significantly better durability. Mothers Cleaner Wax lasts around 4 weeks max. Collinite lasts 4-5 months max. However, since Collinite is a pure wax, it will not be able to remove any water spots, oxidation, etc... You may want to consider using a wax to clean the surface first (Mothers Cleaner Wax, Meguiars Cleaner Wax, Klasse AIO, Meguiars ColorX, etc...) and then use the Collinite to seal the paint to provide maximum protection.

Also the Collinite beading is insane in both the short and long run, take a look at post #20:

Good info and great pictures Mike, makes me want to grab a chomois and take care of the water beeds, and chamoising that type of paint is fun, so is rinsing.

Good job!

+1 :hifive:

Well said. I couldn't have said it better as I have experienced the same (since the first several times of bird bomb issues, I have had great results when using a carnauba topper).
