saw in a home depot ad for a 1300 psi pressure washer for 89 bucks are these things safe for our cars or will it damange the paint.

I actually received one of these 1300 psi electric pressure washers for Christmas a couple of years ago. I think mine came from Wal-Mart. Don't rely on it to remove any road film off of your car, but it will work in a pinch to remove caked on mud, and other debris. I have used it more to sweep my driveway and front sidewalk than for washing the car. I find it is easier and faster to just get the bucket and soap, and wash by hand. It takes some time to get it out, plug it in, hook it up to the hose, etc. I am already halfway done washing the car by hand in that amount of time. Like said before, it does have some practical uses around the house though, I would rather search for a higher powered gas pressure washer used instead.

I have an electric 1750 Campbell Hausfield from Walmart, $150, that I use all over the property. Porches, siding, driveway and especially on the undercarraige of the truck.

I like to keep the under side as clean as I possibly can and I am quite phobic about jacking it up and crawling under there....had one falll on me when I was 16 and the only reason I'm alive is that it was a 48 Chevy coupe that sat pretty high. But I digress.

I clean the undercarraige with it and I also use it to clean some areas of the engine compartment that I can't reach with a rag...the tops of the frame rails etc.

I'm not sorry I spent the buck fifty on it . It's handy to have.

Personally I like the 220v 2000psi pressure washer with a diesel heater in it that is currently located in my father's garage. The steam from it will break down almost any type of grease in an enigne compartment, and when that fails, I have some Eimann Fabrik Citrus Engine Degreaser that I put throught the pressure washer with the steam.

You'd be surprised how white your sidewalks are after using this thing! It's even good for writing messages in people's dirty driveways...:D
