With all those Swirls & Rids, the recent detail is barely detectable! Too bad this hack burned the paint, because it most likely deminished the value 10X more than what he charged the owner for his crap service. Just goes to show you that some people (even ones that play off being VIP detailers on the internet) don't know what they are doing! Nothing like getting the detail torch passed from an owner who was just hacked! Great job Barry!

David, I've been hearing of this more and more as of late. I guess anyone can post their work on many different forums and become a detailing superstar. :nono More often then not the client is left with a bad taste in his mouth.

Again thank god there are quality detailers like Barry who come to the rescue. :bow

This gives detailers in general a bad rap, and makes it hard for the good ones to get what they truly deserve.

Once again Barry, great job.

Nice work, but a lot of those pics look like the negatives, they did not turn out.... :nixweiss

Also why tape it all up if you're only using a DA??

I like that power ball idea for in between those vents on the side, very clever and better then by hand I'm sure.

Car turned out great, nice job.

Josh

The single stage paint on the older ferrari's are very soft and can still easily burn an edge with a DA...Especially with the previous "detailer"(term used loosely) already burning an edge, who knows how thin they are to start with.

I like that power ball idea as well. i hand polished all the door vents on the 348 i did recently, if i get the chance to do another one ill be stealing that idea for sure! haha

great job on the detail!

Love the powerball trick(got a white Testarossa coming up and this will be a handy trick Barry thanks)the door pic is awesome as well.

Mr. Theal,

I am a true fan of your work! I learn something new everytime you post. The powerball trick "amazing".... as always good job on the photos!

Who are these detailers you are talking about? I see you reference them more and more.

Great work Barry Theal! I love the 348s!

When using HDR in Photomatix make sure you are using three different exposures vs. shooting in RAW and post processing them. Also try using Exposure Fusion vs. HDR Generation.

Looks like a storm is brewing...LOL

nice work man, thanks for the talk today as well! Turns out I was wayyy off, not even a bug! Its got a HUGE story behind it apparantly, will be featured in 6 magazine with HUGE coverage...I cant wait! hopefully I get it!

Nice fix on this ride man! Its a shame what some people are putting out there! I can see leaving some RIDS, here and there on a full correction, or sanding scratches where you can really see deep in them, but not removing swirl marks...tisk tisk

The photos you're talking about look like HDR (High Dynamic Range) photos done by blending multiple exposures to get a wider dynamic range. It can make some pictures look weird and otherworldly. I agree in some of the shots the HDR technique doesn't seem to enhance the image but rather detract from it. Gorgeous car and detail though.

X2. I'm a big fan of HDR to make the object look more natural with more dynamic range as we actually see it, but in this case it's a bit too strong.

Nice work!

[Insert usual :bow regarding Barry Theal's work here..]

Barry- Gee, I'm *really* late to this party (hey, you have to drag me kicking and screaming onto threads about red mid-engine Farraris :nixweiss ), but I couldn't resist checking out your work.

Interesting that the PowerBall finished out OK, never woulda thunk it! Heh heh, seems there's always something to learn from you ;)
