PresdntialDtail- Great job and a wonderful write-up!

Q: did you use the M105 for the initial passes on the plastic that's on the "B" pillars/etc.?

Yes, I used a orange LC spot buff pad for the inital pass, and then a yellow megs pad with 105 to finish. From the few cars that have the painted pillars, they tend to be on the harder side than softer.

I woulda thought the M105 pretty aggressive as I've never considered ours all that hard.

Hmmm..but you mentioned *painted* pillars  The ones on our '00-'01 A8/S8 aren't painted, they have the color impregnated in them..they're simply what I'd call black plastic even if the color doesn't go all the way through (don't know if it does or not, never saw one that was all that deeply compromised).

Are these pieces simply *different* between the differing models and years of Audis? All of ours were '01 or earlier and I haven't worked on anything newer than that.

Ive only performed this on an 01 S8 and this 04 S4..so you may be right, but Ive used m105 on them both and on the S4 one pass wasnt even enough..both turned out great either way.

Ah, OK, thanks for the additional info! Maybe I won't be quite so gentle with the pillars (at least on my wife's car ;) ) next time. Good to know that the M105 is OK for those and, heh heh, better you than me when it comes to trying it for the first time ;)

Absolutely EPIC man! Super work. I did an RS4 in this colour and know how it hard it is to work on them. Too bad I didn't have M105 at that time. lol!

Again, amazing work. Those reflection shots had me looking twice!
