Presidential Detailed: 2002 Chevy 3500 HD- MY BIGGEST DETAIL YET!

Are the mall parking lots considered rough terrain where you're located?

That's all that trucks like that are used for these days. The owners are too afraid to take them off-road.

hmm seems to me like your a bit jealous of his truck? not trying to bash but in your sig it says ford ranger, ill take his duramax any day over a ranger. i got a f150 myself. whats wrong with getting a lifted truck detailed? he may off foad for all we know. why get a full detail if you are gonna offroad? who cares it was the customers money. not trying to stir anything up, just seems like OTG seems bitter.

looks real good. i dont see how its a useless vehicle? please enlighten me and tell me how its useless.

I was thinking the same thing; how is a diesel one-ton 4x4 pickup a useless vehicle? It can haul people and cargo, it can pull a very heavy trailer. You could chain it to a Honda Element and drag it around a shopping mall parking lot!

Great detail, but what a useless vehicle!

i disagree until we know how the owner uses it. as a fellow honda owner, i'd find an element useless for what i need it for.

great work billy. truly a great outcome. i know truck owners can be super anal with their rides, and i'm sure he really appreciates your hard work

This statement literally made me LOL. But on another note, lets stop picking on this guy! haha! I own a Ford Ranger also, but I would LOVE to have this truck even though my plans for the Ranger are COMPLETELY the opposite(22s, bags, etc.). The owner is a firefighter, the truck doesn't get driven often and he simply did not want it to rot away sitting in the driveway. He now has a new passion for it and really wants to keep up on it, and even went as far as asking for a product list of stuff I would recommend to keep it looking nice and having me touch it up every few months.

The owners response when he came to pick it up- "Hey guys the truck came out better than when i bought the truck new. It has never looked this good and i'm glad i had Billy detail my truck. As i turned the corner to pickup my truck i felt like a little kid opening my christmas gift."

Do you modify your vehicles at all?

See "Car + Driver" forum for my thread.

I had it for 4 days, I was limited to when I could work on it since it wouldnt fit in the garage, Id say probably around 19 hours since I had to do the top and stuff too...

It certainly shows! I would be very exhausted after 19 hours of detailing! :shocked

I'm never jealous of a GM product. I am selling the Ranger for my father. I agree about it being someone else's money, but it still doesn't have to be right up my alley for style. :)

It's polished and it's black. Why not white and covered in mud from use? I wonder if the bed of the Pickup and the back of the Element are about the same size or not.

Are you on RPS? What year is your Ranger?

I had one back in the day that I went nuts on. Before posting build logs on the internet and all that jazz. Just the truck, the welder, and myself. Grunt grunt grunt.

Very nice work Billy. You're a brave man to tackle such a huge job. Hopefully you were compensated accordingly!

when you do paint correction on any vehicle im assuming you also do the roof. The reason I ask is I never see pics of it in anyones detail.

I'm exhausted just looking at that vehicle. A truck with that much height and overall real estate is a huge task. I bet you slept great those nights.

Looks great :goodjob

I think what he is saying, and what I have noticed is that Everyone here in the good old USA thinks that in order to tow their 18' raft they need a huge truck or SUV. hey forget that people in Europe live day in and day out doing exactly what we do in smaller vehicle that are safer for other motorists and better on gas.

Sick detail...good job man.:)

I actually did not do the roof, I clayed and waxed it though. The customer figured it wasn't worth the extra time and money to have it done since you cannot see it and really I had no way to get to it and polish it CORRECTLY. I did however do the door pillars and the top part of the topper that you could see above the windows.

Great job on a monster. Was the paint really hard, why did you start with M105 and wool?

Brandon

The clear was a medium-hardness. I actualyl started with SIP/Orange with pretty good results, but it wasnt getting some of the deeper stuff and some of the water etching. So I busted out the ol' M105 to give it a shot on a PFW pad and WOW! ;) Then each step after that it kept blowing my mind how well it corrected, its literally FLAWLESS!
