This is by far one of the finest full correction jobs I have seen in a long while! The 50/50 shots are awesome and you could really tell the true deep navy finish came through in the end. Superb correction work on every inch of that Audi.

:wow:

Thanks! I was real happy with the finished result!

Your work + great Audi paint + my favorite blue = AWESOME!

You do some great work!

So far, the Audi paint is by far the best paint Ive worked with as far as ease of correction and finishing down! There really isnt much orange peel if any also!

wow looks awesome! great job!

what kind of rotary and wool pads were you using?

I used a Makita with Megs Yellow Solo Wool as well as LC PFW and orange pads. I then used a Uk 3m finishing pad to jewel the paint.

PresdntialDtail- Great job, thanks for sharing it with us!

As the owner of a '01 S8 I found this especially interesting :D

A few sorta random thoughts and a few Qs:

-Ming Blue right? It looks great in that color. What color was the interior?

-Interesting that the OPO wasn't bad, it's really awful on both my S8 and my wife's A8 (or maybe it just *seems* awful considering their cost).

-Yeah, the jeweling makes a big diff on Audi metallics, huh?

-Man was the "before" nasty...he'd better keep that engine compartment cleaner or little things are gonna turn into serious things before he notices them.

-The way that engine compartment looks all dressed/etc. almost makes me want to glossy-dress the plastic in mine....almost ;)

-Hope all his drainage passages aren't clogged up with those leaves/etc. (no, no, I'm not blaming you at all...I just know that clearing them is a little bit of a job and I doubt he does it regularly). Pulling the plastic cladding to clean things out is something that really does need done quite often IME.

-Good move taping off the aluminum trim. Too bad it's already so clouded up...did you do anything with it?

-The tailpipe is a lot nicer than mine is :D Mine has a really awful plating job and has had nasty discoloration in its worst areas since new ("hey, can't you clean up your muffler tip Accumulator?!?") that I simply can't polish out :nixweiss

-Interesting that the M105 wasn't too aggressive on the "B" pillars/etc. Heh heh, I bet it was *perfect* for those fingernail scratches behind the door handles...they were an incredible time-eater back in the days before M105.

Again, thanks for sharing this, nice to see that car is getting some proper attention.

Now if he'd just let you debadge it....

Haha! I can tell your excited! Yes it was blue, although Im not sure of the exact color code.

As for the trim, I did a little reading on the Audi forums and it seems there is not too much you can do about it besides replace it. It seems to be a plastic with a clearocat or something over top. If there is a way, I dont know, but metal polishes wont work.

Yeah, once it starts clouding there's not much you can do. I clean off the worst of the oxidation with KAIO and then seal/wax it. Replacement isn't even a solution as the replacement parts go bad *very* quickly.

I've been told two different things regarding what it is, and both sources *should've* been credible  Both said the material is aluminum, but one said it's clear anodized and the other said it's clear powdercoated :nixweiss

Somebody here (forget who it was) did once polish some of this trim up with aggressive use of metal polish and it looked nice, but I never heard any reports on how long it *stayed* nice and my bet is "not long".

INSANE PAINT! WOW you really did a fantastic job! Those reflections are incredible.. I notice that you tape a lot.. i used to, then honestly i didnt really see the need. Especially around chrome or lights.. but thats just me.. I tape around soft trim and moldings but maybe im just getting lazy...

great job!!

I polished up my clouded trim on my now departed:cry:A8 and it looked "ok" for awhile but not long.

Accumulator, you told me I'd miss it and you were right. I don't miss the constant electrical gremlins(I didn't get the best example of the 8] but I do miss the driving experience. Thought about an 03 S8, but then maybe I just have a bad case of the "I want something new" syndrome.

Great job, I think the D2 A8/S8 were some of the simplest, best looking cars of their time and still look great.

I've always loved the S8 and that specific color ... the depth after you were done with it is just amazing.
