I just bought my company Van for $330. I thought i could make a few bucks on it...
1. I check'd Kelly Blue book.
2. I Detail'd it. Inside and Outside.

Took it to CarMax for a free estimate.
They are offering about $300 more than Kelly's Blue book.
They comment'd, "This is a well prep'd vehicle"
(I use'd Mullet Wax, what a shine)
They overlook'd many dings, worn carpet, some other engine issues...

I think this is another avenue to make money, if someone is selling there vehicle, you will increase the value between $500 and $1000.
in my estimates..

My 2c's

I have always believed that a well prep'd car will go for a bit more than otherwise. The only case where this wasn't true was my mothers 99 Crown Vic with 80,000 miles. It went for underbook after several months of trying to sell.

I had an idea some time back while it was raining:wait That I would call on people that where selling cars in the paper. To see if they had the cars detailed before selling. I hit a few that had already and most had said no they did not want to invest the cash.
One paid out a local German car mechanic who had some select used cars and lets me detail the cars for him on site.

I believe I read somewhere that a "well" detailed vehicle with yield $454 more on trade in or sale.....I tell my customers this, and in essence, they are making money by paying me $200-300.
