Prep-Sol

Is Dupont Prep-Sol safe to use without damaging the clear coat? I've read here that Prep-Sol is a good product to use for tree sap, and I bought some Prep-Sol this morning for some small spots of oak tree sap. However, on the back of the can, there is a warning that Prep-Sol soaked rags should not be allowed to remain on the finished surface or damage could result. I'm hoping this referes to long term contact (more than the three minutes suggested to remove tree sap).

Has anyone experienced any form of clear coat damage from Prep-Sol? Is there a safer alternative?

I have used prepsol before with no problem, Just dont delay and let any sit for long. I find clay to be the way to deal with sap myself, give it a shot first.

Good Luck

Prep-sol is safe. I personally wouldn't let a rag soaked in solvent dwelling over the weekend :) on my clearcoat ... but then again, Joe Schmo might just do that and then camplain. Hence the disclaimer.

If you are worried about it, you can diluting an automotive All Purchase Cleaner to the correct dilution (I'd make it a touch stronger than the wax removal recommendation) and try differing dwell times until you find the one that works.
